This is an original hotel ... it is certainly not corporate but all staff so very kind and friendly. It is in an amazing position in Gamla Stam, very easy to walk to and from. I have to say it is the smallest room I have ever stayed in, barely enough to put my suitcase anywhere. It is looking a little like it needs a coat of paint and I had one rather scratchy towel. There are a couple of public areas to sit in ... filled to overflowing with the Nelson naval memorabilia.Very quirky. However these shortcomings are more than compensated for by the really charming, helpful staff. All staff were absolutely delightful and friendly.If you are not after a corporate experience but prefer the friendly, quirky I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for two nighs in February and I cannot recommend this place enough, yes the rooms are small and there is no tea/coffee facilities on them but the latter is referred to on the website and I have found very few hotels in mainland Europe that has tea/coffee in the room so that was no surprise. The staff are really friendly, I had informed them in advance that I was vegan and they went out of their way to provide me with soya milk and vegan friendly margarine and bread for breakfast ( a service you wouldn't get in a large chain hotel). The room we stayed in was really sweet, quirky furniture, a TV with several stations in English and a fridge to store the lovely pastries in we bought in the organic bakers in the next street. The Naval memorabillia all over the building added to the charm as did the period looking furniture in the rooms. It has been mentioned that the shower room is small, this is true but it serves its purpose, why does anyone need a large showroom? My husband is 6ft tall and it was perfectly adequate for him.The location is superb, right in the cente of Gamla Stan (the old town) and just a few minutes walk from the Metro station to go further afield.I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you are looking for old fashioned charm in a beautiful city.

This is good hotel in Stockholm, located in centre. Rooms are not huge but enough to feel comfortable. Service speaks good english, so don't worry about communiction. Hotel is painted in pink. Inside there is a lot of marine accesories.

I am used to staying in large 4* hotels with plenty of space and facilities, so it was a bit of a shock when I first arrived.That said it was adequate, there is an en-suite bathroom but it is too small to change in, there is no fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and the hotel does not have a bar. The room has a desk and chair and a wardrobe.The reception staff are lovely, very friendly and welcoming.The old town area the hotel is situated in is charming, very safe to walk around in, and extremely well situated. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance.The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was fairly well maintained. I didn't hear any church bells which other reviewers have mentioned, and I wasn't disturbed by any noise from the street.There is free wifi which is a bonus.Breakfast is continental but of a very good quality. The dining room is tiny (it probably only seats about 20) but people do tend to eat up and go so its not a proble.

So this is apparently the narrowest hotel in the entire Sweden! Read info in the lift (all in Swedish though)On the plus side: Really good deal on that specific night, just about SEK150 more than a private hostel room. Really nice small sauna for own private use. There's also a shower in the sauna. Single rooms have the feeling of really being a sailor on a ship. Liked the nautical interior of the hotel. Free internet also fast.On the negative side: I can recommend that staff attending to the breakfast great guests in the morning, they are in a service industry after all. Just a pity the weather did not allow the roof terrace to be opened. Also, coming back late at night it feels a bit like one is checking into a school dormitory as the person at the check in desks wants to know one's room number. If it is a matter of security, then rather inform people to leave their keys at the check in desk. Or provide a code at the entrance door, e.g. room number + birth year. Also, inform guests about the sauna and small lounge on the 1st floor. I can read Swedish and could understand the info in the lift.
