I stayed at the Lady Hamilton Hotel for 4 nights during February 2013. The hotel is located one street up from the "main" street in the Gamla Stan and is directly below the Palace in a quiet street. The room was clean but given the price on the small side. The room was a double and had the typical two single beds pushed together that you get in Europe. The bathroom was also clean and the floors heated so if you need to do some hand washing, it will dry in the bathroom. The breakfast at the hotel is good with freshly sqeezed orange juice, the usual cold cuts of meat, herring, pickles, cheese etc, lots of yoghurt, cereals, eggs, bacon, fruit, pastries and great bread (with a toaster) for those inclined. The staff are very helpful and friendly. My advice, if you fly in, get the train into central station from the airport and then pay the 100-120 kronor for a taxi to the hotel, rather than get the metro from the central station (which is 1 stop) and then try and find the hotel. The Gamla Stan is typical of most Old Towns with cobble streets and the lady Hamilton is located up hill from the station so with luggage it's an effort and not worth it. The hotel is walking distance of lot of the attractions in Stockholm. However, be prepared to walk in Stockholm and lots as the attractions are spread out.The hotel doesn't have a restaurant for dinner but no need to worry there are great restaurants and bars near the hotel. I went to two Irish bars - Limmey's and O'Connells (the food was pretty good at the later) and one Swedish wine bar (19 Glass Bar & Matsal - which was lovely and also had a very interesting menu). In the Gamla Stan there is a great Italian restaurant called Vapiano. Essentially you get a buzzer when you walk in and then you order what you want - Pasta, Salad, Pizza, Beer/wine etc and swipe the buzzer and then pay on the way out. The tables are large and communal which is great for the solo traveller. Also, there are herbs on the tables that you can pick to add to your meal. Also there is a swedish restaurant called Slingerbulten where I had the best meal! The prawn and dill entree was divine and the steak was amazing! I wish I had found it earlier!.

This was my first stay in this hotel and I loved it. As a single woman you get a surprise present in your room, which was very nice.Breakfast was fantastic, it contained everything one could wish for. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom very clean and nice looking. The location is great for shopping, restaurants och nice walking along the waterfront. Couldn¿¿t be better.

If you like a big plastic and chrome anonymous hotel, this is not for you. If you like a small, comfortable hotel with friendly efficient staff this is the place. Superbly situated in the heart of the Old Town, the hotel is a great place for a city break. The decor is different - almost like a museum with antiques in every corner, but a treat to wander around. We had a room on the top floor (the one with the "secret" moonshine cabinet with the unfortunately empty bottle of Aqvavit in it) and were never disturbed by the bells at all. The lift up to the fourth floor made some interesting noises at times, but worked ok when we used it, but using the staircase is much more interesting. The only thing that we felt was lacking was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room - would have been nice when coming in out of the cold late at night.The hotel has no restaurant, but just round the corner in Trangsund, the Kaffegillet is excellent with very friendly staff and reasonable prices by Stockholm standards. Try the goulash soup at lunchtime to put a heat into you when the weather is as cold as it was last week!

We like to travel and see new places, meet with other people, we have a saying " there¿¿s no strangers in the world, it¿¿s just friends you haven¿¿t met yet".We live in a suburb to Stockholm. When we go to the city for a meal, theatre, movie or whatever we like to stay over night in our home town. We like Lady Hamilton very much (can see why Lord Nelson liked her).They have a lovely Afternoon Tea as well, nice breakfast and the atmosphere from the old time is in the walls.The hotel is close to the Royal Castle and a lot of shops in the Old Town.You can easely go to the open air museum, Skansen. Centrally located, yet on a quiet street, this beautiful little hotel really lives up to expectation. Service was impeccable and the room (single bed in this case) comfortably spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast (included), served in a cosy dining room, was very good.
