Very comfortable
I booked a single room and on check-in was upgraded to larger king room on the executive floor. This gave me access to the executive lounge which served an excellent breakfast, as well as drinks and snacks all day!Staff were friendly and professional, the room and bed were extremely comfortable, and the location of the hotel is excellent. A little off the beaten path but still just a few minutes' walk to the centre of town.Overall, a great stay. Highly recommended!

Good hotel in a convenient location
While the decor is a bit dated, the size of the room was quite good. Walking to the center of town is relatively convenient, although lugging baggage from the train station is a bit difficult given the cobblestones on many of the streets. However, the hotel is not far from a metro station as well as several tram lines. Nice view from my room, overlooking the river. The only meals I had at the hotel were for breakfast, which was adequate, although the eggs were from a dehydrated mix and not fresh.

Good service, good location, good property
Nice sized room for a Scandinavian hotel, comfy bed, heated bathroom floor and towel rack -- always nice. Very good front desk service.As a Hilton Honors Diamond I enjoyed access to the executive lounge. It was minimalist in appointment and service, yet fitting. I appreciate the open bar and generous food.The restaurant seemed a bit less than. I had dinner one night; the service was barely adequate. The menu was limited.

A High Standard
I stayed here for 2 nights in early Feb 2013. Overall, the service and standard levels were high. The room and hotel in general do seem dated, like something out of the late 80¿¿¿s with lots of wood, brass, and full glass elevators suspended in an open atrium that spans the entire 8 floors of the hotel, but it was fine enough; overall it felt like your typical business hotel. I believe I was upgraded to a better room due to availability, as my room had a view of the Baltic Sea (or more like Baltic Ice during that time of the year); the room had 2 single beds, fluffy pillows (overstuffed feather types, which is my preference), a desk, a separate armchair with side table. The bathroom included toilet, shower/tub, and a bidet. Toiletries were all by Peter Thomas Roth in mini bottles (even though there was a soap dispenser in the shower anyway). Slippers, sewing kit, and shoe polish rag were also supplied. I liked that the room had an electric kettle with teas and instant coffee, free of charge, in addition to the minibar with typically absurd prices (5 euros for a candy bar!). TV was a 29¿¿¿ flat screen type, along with a safe, iron/ironing board, and even a trouser press; the alarm clock enables plugging in your own mp3 player should you desire. One minus is that the room did not have enough outlets; there was one by the desk, and another by the door (about 2¿¿¿ from the floor) -- everything else was occupied by the multitude of lamps and devices in the room. I had breakfast, served in the Bridge Restaurant, on the ground floor, which is nice and airy thanks to the 8 floors of overhead clearing that makes up the atrium, with lots of glass and comfortable chairs. Breakfast is plentiful, with all the parts that make up a typical English breakfast, along with 4-5 pastries, yogurts, juices, cold cuts, cheeses, and these Finnish savory ¿¿¿tarts¿¿¿ filled with rice. The eighth floor has a small gym, pool, and saunas available for all guests; it wasn¿¿¿t manned by staff when I went, and the sauna did have stray used towels around, but it was fairly well maintained and clean. Towels and cover sheets were fully stocked. There is a separate sauna for men and women (with an attached changing area), as well as another sauna that can be reserved for private use; the sauna also opens out to a sun terrace/outdoors balcony to cool off in between, which was nice. I found the electric sauna hot enough, though Finns probably won¿¿¿t (certainly in comparison to the traditional wood burning sauna that I¿¿¿d later experience, this one in the hotel was a refrigerator). Wifi is free in the lobby, though still with a usable signal on the lower floors.All in all, I thought this was a nice stay, very comfortable, with well maintained facilities, and plenty of extras. Staff was professional and efficient throughout. When I think of the Hilton Strand, a 4-star business hotel comes to mind -- it¿¿¿s not dripping with luxury, but it doesn¿¿¿t pretend to be either.

Excellent hotel, good location, great views, tasty food!
The Hilton Strand is in excellent location, not far to walk to Helsinki centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The views from the Exec lounge (and room) across the water were very pleasant (especially when the sun came out). The breakfast and evening snacks in the Exec lounge were excellent, especially the fish!The room was very comfortable and spacious bathroom as you'd expect for a Hilton room.Only slight negatives, the TV was a bit old and stuck up on a shelf. Hopefully plasma TVs will be introduced soon. And there was a charge for Wifi access which for Exec floor should be waived.Otherwise excellent and I'd definitely return to this hotel for a future visit.
