There's no future in square toilet seats...
We recently visited Berlin for a short city break and Mrs S found this hotel via "last minute dot.com."After a devil of a job trying to navigate our way out of Berlin central rail station we eventually gave up and ordered, along with a similarly disoriented English couple, a taxi to take us to our respective hotels, theirs The Hilton and we to Winters. Unfortunately, there is more than one Winters hotel although I understand they are all part of the same group. The taxi driver dropped us at the Check-point Charlie venue and from there at 10:30 at night with suitcases it is a good 10 minute walk to Hedemanstrasse.Check in was painless. The front entrance is small but as with most of Berlin, spotlessly clean. Staff are helpful and most understand some English.A lift took us to the fourth floor. The room was decidely clean with a tendency to beige and grey in the decor. Small, but perfectly formed bathroom: sink, toilet, shower and as we don't live in bathrooms more than sufficient.The bedroom had two excellent mirrors, a sufficient wardrobe and a much appreciated, complimentary safety deposit box.The bed was large and comfortable although supplied with two single duvets -a sign of things to come and no losers in the battle of the duvet ?On this particular trip we had managed to forget the continental plug adapter - whoops! We could not charge either the phones or the umpteen camera batteries. Searches in the Berlin shops proved negative so I asked at reception where we could purchase one.The delightful young lady said not to bother (expensive to buy in Berlin apparently), spoke to a colleague and he handed over an Aladdin's cave of plug adapters covering just about every electrical system devised on this planet. We picked the UK model and that was it - "return when you check out." A nice touch.Breakfasts are expensive at 14 euros but most cafes are 2 to 3 euros for a single coffee so we found it better value to eat and drink our fill from the predominately continental selection before venturing out. All in all I was very satisfied with the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms more than adequate. I agree it would not rate 4 star in the UK but for a short city break it is well situated.Just one thing - square toilet sets are NOT the future.

Great hotel
The hotel is lovely and modern and close to underground station, there are some lovely little bars and restaurants around. Was within walking distance ( about 30 minutes) to Check point Charlie. There is a beautiful German chocolate shop just down the road, We did not have breakfast in the hotel , but found little cafe where we had fried potatoes eggs and bacon for about 7 euro

Modern & Well situated
Situated within 15/20 minute walk to the city centre. Public transport is close by. The hotel is clean and has very comfortable beds. The room was a bit hot, as the heating was turned up high. Wish there was a kettle in the room. If visiting Berlin again I would happily stay here again. The breakfast was plentiful and quite good.

Great location
A good hotel but not 4 star as advertised. We'd asked for a no smoking room but both corridor and room smelt of tobacco. However staff were quick to replace pillows and duvets with ones that smelled clean (at my request). The room was a decent size and clean. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water. Staff were friendly and helpful making reservations at restaurants for us. There was also the facility to leave luggage so that we were unencumbered on our last day.My only moan is that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Room 318
I stayed here in a single room for 12 nights in November 2012. I asked for a quite room and got number 318, which was perfectly quite (no neighbours, no street). Breakfast was good, but if I would have to pay it by my own, I would skip it, because it is expensive (I was on a business trip in Berlin and so my company paid for it). Bar is next to the reception and has not a nice athmosphere - there are much better places to enjoy a drink in Berlin. About 5 minutes walking to Checkpoint Charlie. About 10 minutes walking to Subway-station Hallesches Tor and also 10 minutes walking to station Anhalter Bahnhof. Free internet in the room. Large TV (which I did not use much). Comfortable bed, pillow not very comfortable (with two pillows it was o.K.)
