There are other, much nicer, hotels in the vicinity
Mistakingly booked here again not remembering I'd previously stayed and not enjoyed it!Hotel is located right next to the ExCeL (which was great) and is in a lovely little area next to the river. My 'deluxe' room was very much not 'deluxe' and with no air conditioning was simply unbearable to sleep in. TV service was a bit 'out-of-date' and the room layout itself was bizarre. If I'd paid ¿¿65 and this was an Ibis I probably wouldn't be so miffed but I paid ¿¿120+ for this.Wouldn't stay again (must check previous reviews before booking in future!)

Fantastic hotel situated in the heart of the docklands
I booked this hotel through lastminute as a secret hotel. I got a real good deal. We wanted the location as we were going to the O2 to see Beyonce. She was fab!!! We got to the hotel by about 11:30am, just wanting to drop our bags off, but we was able to check in at this time which was great. I was travelling with my mum so asked for a twin room and this was no problem. The room was on the small side but it was good enough for the 1 night. The beds were big and very comfortable. The bathroom was great and had a fab shower, be warned that there is a separate shower as my mother used the bath and shower head thinking there wasn't a separate shower cubicle!! It's tucked behind the door when you open the main door!! I only realised this as I went to shower and shut the door and hung my towel on the rail thinking it was loose I pulled it to realise it was a shower cubicle!! We did laugh and still laugh about it now!!! The reception team were helpful and friendly. The hotel lobby and bar looked really nice we never used it but will do if we go back. We was a bit confused on how to get to the O2! Didn't realise there is a cable cart 2 minutes walk down the docks! It lasts 5 minutes and cost us about ¿¿3:50 each if you have a tube card and produce it then you get a discount. It's a great ride and you get to see alot. Will definitely go back to this hotel again. 10 out 10 for service and location.

Perfect location for Excel
We chose this hotel to be near the Excel and we couldn't have been closer.It was also close to the cable car across the Thames and city airport.There is a DLR station within walking distance great for the O2 but getting to the West End requires 2 or 3 changes.The staff were helpful and there was a good view of the river from the bar and restaurant.Would certainly stay again.

Such a shame
I was expecting this hotel to be fantastic. But when we arrived at about 2.30 we were first told our room was not ready, even though check in is at 2... Then it took a further 15 minutes to check us in. The man behind the counter was very rude and spoke to us as if we were children. As we got into our room (after another person in our party could not get their key card to work. Then was told it wasn't registered or something) I noticed a few reciepts on the side in the room. After having been a chambermaid myself I know its easy to forget a few things. But when we went to look around the bathroom and seperate toilet we noticed a dirty towel in the bottom of the shower and the bath still had residue in. Also the toilet seat had some sort of white powder on it. We spoke to a chambermaid and she started yelling at another one about the state of the room. We were not refunded any money or offered anything even though the room was a mess. I found the whole experience unsatisfactory. Also the price of such a basic room was ridiculous. Especially a dirty basic room.

Very good hotel in magnificent surroundings
Stayed at Novotel whilst visiting Grand Designs at Excel. The hotel is very modern and well laid out in the public areas, although the standard rooms are somewhat compact but well equipped. The hotel is very well located for Emirates Sky Lift across to the O2 Arena, and also very close to London Docklands Rail. The breakfast is excellent with lots of choice in the buffet. The restaurant has excellent views across the adjacent docklands.
