Apparently about to be refurbished
I understand from one of the staff that this hotel has been taken over and is about to be refurbished. It really is about time as it has changed little since we first started staying there some ten years ago. The reception and restaurant areas have had a bit of a face lift but the bedrooms remain very tired (pardon the pun) and the bathrooms left a little to be desired as the cleaning was not too thorough. Hoewever, on the up side it IS very close to all the attractions and centre of Lille and we will go back.

good deal
not in the "vieux lille" but really close to everywhere you want to be - and with a (narrow) underground parking. Good deal at the 85 ¿¿¿ we paid - correct rooms - good location - included breakfast more than ok. Too bad that we actually did not need this hotel, because we reserved it to go to "Cabaret La bonbonni¿¿re" but they cancelled last minute (see my review there).

A cold spot in Lille
The hotel is convenient placed among several restaurants, caf¿¿ and bars etc. and with 5 minutes¿¿¿ drive to the highway. If you are staying here for business, you should not worry regarding traffic in the morning, as it seems the French like to sleep until noon. If you are by car, the Holiday inn parking space is a whopping 12 Euro/night, which is 3 euro less than a parking fee¿¿¿.despite of the saving, I still felt punished..The free Wi-Fi had a decent speed; however the Wi-Fi reception in the bar was limited. Well, actually I should work in room and not the bar, so I should not complain.As I stayed in a period with temperature degrees below zero, I must say that the heating in room #618 is quite ¿¿¿none existent. However if you turn on all the lights, the TV, the hot shower and your laptop in the bed¿¿¿you are able to avoid hypothermia. If you stay here in the summer, expect the opposite¿¿¿no air-condition.The laundry service is..hmmmm¿¿¿a bit slow, to put it nicely. Delivered my laundry bags in the morning at 7 am and was not returned by 8 pm. Went to the reception to ask, if my laundry had arrived¿¿¿then answer was; No, maybe tomorrow¿¿¿MAYBE ?!...Anyways, Meals and breakfast was not consumed here, due to the varieties of eating place near the hotel, so cannot rate this..but the beers in the hotel are always good¿¿¿I would probably still go back, due to the location, however not without additional heating.

Cold Night in Lille
We spent a weekend in recently during a verity cold spell. Our Holiday Inn Express was warm and friendly which made up for the weather. the hotel is ideally placed for the old town, 5 minutes walk away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was also very good, the bread especially. The rooms were more than adequateandthe bed very comfortable. On the down side the corridors of the hotel are looking a little weary and the entrance/exit from the garage was a little exciting!

not bad
Not a bad place, the rooms were a good size and clean. The reception staff were very helpful and all in all a very comfortable place to stay. The only downside is it¿¿¿s a bit of a walk to the old town.
