Good Value and Dinner at Vodoo Steak 5 Star
Stayed at the Rio at the end of a business trip and just wanted somewhere to chill away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. The room was great and the staff seemed to be a little more layed back than other hotels I've stayed at in Vegas. Dined at the Vodoo Steak House which was a fantastic location. The waiter here couldn't do enough and my only regret is I didn't take his name to add to the review. I will probably be back on another trip. The only downside was the line for check-in and if you timed it right, like i did, you would be about 5-10 minutes otherwise i dread to think. My suggestion would be pay extra for the early check-in!

Terrific fun & value
Stayed at the Rio a while ago and highly recommend it. The extra space of a suite is lovely. As is the opportunity to see one of the world's great acts, Penn & Teller, in the showroom. The carnival floats which travel around the ceiling at hourly intervals are a bit of fun. For a very reasonable ticket price you can even ride on one of these floats yourself. It certainly made for a memorable Xmas Eve for my wife and I - as we glided above the casino patrons on a float holding a collection of lovely young dancers dressed as Mrs Claus. "Ho Ho Ho", indeed!

Rio Suites Review
I stayed at this hotel from April 28, 2013 to May 2, 2013. It was off the strip, but they have a free shuttle that takes you to either Ballys or Harrahs on the strip and back. It is customary to give the driver a tip of at least $1, which is cheap compared to having to take a taxi to the strip of at least $9 or $10. My room was in the Masquerade Tower on the 25th floor. I had a view of the pools. This was one of the renovated rooms. The room was very clean. I like quiet when I go to sleep and I must say it was reasonably quiet. If you plan to stay here don't try to check in early. They stuck to a 4pm check in. There were several conventions at the hotel, but the staff was very pleasant. I ate breakfast at Burger King which is open 24 hours and has free WiFi. There is also a snack bar that sells chicken, sandwiches, pizza and prepared to order salads at an ok price. The casino was nice. I would stay here again. There are also 2 rather large buffet restaurants, as well as an indian restaurant and three upscale restaurants. There is plenty to do here. Eddie Griffin was at the comedy club Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Rat Pack show was in the Crown room.

There is a reason the rooms are so cheap
I have been to Vegas several times before and this was my first time staying at The Rio. I am here for a trade show this time and thankfully not spending much time at the hotel. My experience started off bad and went downhill. I waited in line for over 30 minutes to check in at 1:00 am. When walking by the front desk at normal hours it looks like the wait time is even longer. When I finally got to the counter the hostess was rude and acted as if I was bothering her. She promptly informed me that there is now an additional mandatory $20 / night "resort fee." She also informed me that my king room was unavailable and that I would be assigned a double queen room. No biggie. I asked, "is there a mini bar in the room? To which she replied "yes." After getting to my sub-par room (more on that in a moment) I went to grab a night-cap only to find an empty mini bar. The carpet is torn, the bathroom moldy, no coffee in the room (no mini-bar), the room has a funky smell and it reminds me of a college dorm room. Many reviews say that it needs "updates" which is like saying sleeping under a bridge might be "drafty." This hotel has been "rode hard and put away wet." It's dingy, dirty, the staff are rude and it needs a floor to ceiling overhaul. Just looking at the exterior you can clearly see paint flaking off 50% of the exterior, half of the buttons in the elevators are broken and the service is abysmal. They have above average sized rooms which enables them to claim they are "suites", but a big turd is still a turd! Do not waste your time or ruin your trip. Spend $20 more and stay elsewhere!

Overpriced Resort Fee but Excellent Service
I stayed at this hotel during a covention so their business center facilities where a life saver, I received a couple of packages that later they sent diretly to my room. The bell service was like any other in Vegas FRIENDLY, WELLCOMING and HARD WORKERS, I had 3 bags weighting 70 pounds each I didnt hear any complaint just " I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY WITH US" as they actually mean it. My only complaint was the 25 dolars resort fee per night for a hard acces pool but I had an excellent times on the slots where again I found very friendly and wellcoming people.
