Disappointing !
For a short overnight stay in Barcelona, we stayed in the Hesperia Fira Suites in L¿¿Hospitalet de Llobregat. It was announced by HRS as a 5-star-hotel and came with a quite attractive price... and a big disappointment: Very far from a 5-star, maybe somewhere between 3 and 4. The hotel is annex to some sort of event organization and lodged in a dark separate building without any personnel. At the reception, you will get an explanation how to get there and then you will try it out on your own, carrying your bags yourself. There is apparently no room service either, at least they were not able to provide us with a breakfast at 7 in the morning before checking out. The hotel is located in the periphery, so long end expensive cab drives into the city add to the seemingly attractive price. The rooms are average, our bathroom was somewhat worn out and in particular the critical spots on the shower door need urgent repair. The minibar is stuffed with cheaper products at quite substantial price and softdrinks are not included in the room rate.In short: disappointing. We will not come back ! A year before, we had an excellent stay in the A C Hotel Victoria Suites, which were unfortunately booked.

One night in Barca
This is more a pseudo-review as we checked in at 10pm, and checked out at 5am to catch a 7am flight to a nearby island. I wanted a hotel near the airport where it's relatively inexpensive, quiet enough, clean, and we won't have a problem checking in and out due to our schedule. This hotel fit the bill. And it's next to a 5-star hotel, so we expected something similar for interiors. The room did not disappoint. It's large, with all of the kitchen amenities you'd need (we never used), and there's a separate living room. One of the best-appointed shower rooms we had recently. Modern room. The lobby is empty when we were there. You will need to check in next door, and the key gets you in the Suites' lobby area and your room. There's a convenience store next door. Not too crazy about the bed.I would not recommend this hotel if you're new to Barcelona, or if you're a lone female traveler. Pay extra more for the convenience and safety of the city hotels. But if you've been to Barcelona, and you want to save $ on food and lodging, or you just want a decent hotel near the airport then this is a perfect hotel for you. There's no walkable places to eat, so you might as well take the free shuttle to the city for food. Or you can take the L1 metro apparently, which takes you to town in 35 minutes. The red bus 46 (about 5 euros) takes you to the hotel stop, which is 2 stops (24 minutes) outside of the airport. Be mindful to take the same bus back, as we made a mistake of taking a different bus which took us around the city and back to the airport, at the wrong terminal to boot. So we ended up paying 20 euros still to get to the other side of the airport. We still made our flight, but that was definitely an adventure.We rented a locker to store our large luggage at the airport for 6 euros a day. I highly recommend if you plan to come back to BCN before your flight back home. We would go back for the kitchenette, the cleanliness of the room, and the price, and the fact that it will no longer going to be our first trip to BCN.

Spacious, clean and functional
I booked this hotel after our cruise. Our flight was for 6am the next day, so this hotel suited our purpose, as it was pretty close to the airport and was also connected via Barcelona's extensive metro system (Hospital de Bellvitge on L1), plus it was inexpensive.The hotel was a high rise building, where as Fira suites side was a 3 floor low rise apartment. The suites were huge with large bedroom and closet, separate living room with a small functional kitchen. The bathroom was also very large with the basic necessity provided. Basically it's a very nice one bedroom suite that is quite suitable for extended stay.Good:- close to airport, taxis are readily available at all hours - large room, very comfortable, lots of space- very clean and friendly staff- close to metroPS: our 4:20am trip to the airport with 2 luggages costed 27 euroBad:- far from city center (a good 30+ min metro ride)- low traffic area without much around

An Average Stay
We spent two nights in Barcelona after a cruise. Also searching for hours, I decided to select Hesperia Fira Suites since it was near the airport and they offered shuttles into the Center of Barcelona and the airport.Pros: the living space was spacious and had a living room and small kitchen. We did not use the kitchen except to cool our beverages. The bathroom was perfect with marble counters and a wonderful shower. The bedroom was large, comfortable and the bed was idea. The pillows were soft but the next day I asked for an isotonic pillow and it was provided. The hotel was conveniently located next to a Metro station and it was relatively easy to get around any part of the city. Cons: There was a Nespresso coffee maker but you had to purchase 7 portions of coffee for 10 Euros. The neighborhood had many apartments but relatively few choices of nicer restaurants to eat. There is a computer at the Hesperia Towers but the cost is a bit high for an hour's use. They give you 15 minutes complimentary but the computer is very slow and I couldn't print my boarding pass in the time frame. Next time we will stay closer to the center in order to improve the selection of places to eat and shop. We did take the shuttle to the airport however, the lady broke off the wheel of my brand new Anne Kline suitcase. However, I guess these things happen. Overall, I would stay there again but am looking for variety next time.

We went there after a cruise
We wanted to spend a few days in Barcelona after our crossing of the Atlantic on a repositioning cruise . After desembarkation ,we took the blue public bus (2,5 euros) that got us close to the metro station Drassanes, bought some tickets and then took the metro to station Bellvitge L1 . We walked about 150 meters to the hotel where we left our luggage for the morning . We then took the free shuttle provided by the hotel to the Center of the City close to la Rambla where we went to visit La Pedrera (one of Gaudi's masterpiece) . Easy , fast and cheap ! The hotel and specially the Suites are an excellent value if one makes use of the free shuttle and the excellent Barcelona Metro network . You get luxury at half the price of a noisy hotel located on La Rambla !
