Service was great. The pool area was nice, with good chairs. The pool was verrrry warm. The restaurant was low on staff when we were there (really only one server playing hostess and taking orders) so breakfast took awhile but she was fantastic. The food was also quite good and amazingly cheap for a hotel restaurant ($8 for eggs Benny and something like $13 for the buffet which had some good choices such as make your own omelette).The rooms I'd say we're pretty average, had everything we needed. It felt a little old and the ceilings seemed low but everything was in good order and cleanFront desk staff was great and there were free cookies and yummy tea around. We ran into a bit of a problem with the shuttle (we were there for a cruise so needed to get to the port) - it doesn't seem to go "on request" like the reviews indicated that it used to do. It goes on a set schedule - so just make sure you're aware of that. It is, in theory, walking distance to the cruise terminal but in the heat and with bags lots of people don't want to walk it. The area around the hotel is not stellar or anything but its a short walk to a Main Street where there's several restaurants. All in all, great stay. It did the job for our purpose - some pool time, breakfast, and a good nights sleep close to the cruise terminal.

This is the second time we've stayed here prior to a cruise. I gave them a good review last time but found things were even better this time. Really like the location of this hotel. Some good restaurants close by, can go for walks around the area, shuttle to the ship is good and very convenient.Last time I found the bed wasn't that comfortable, there were problems with the hot water, the non-smoking room smelled of smoke and the service in the restaurant was not the greatest. This time, the bed was very good, the room was very clean, service from all staff was much improved. They seem to have fixed the hot water problem and the room we had had no smells.Like a previous guest review, we did find some problems with the elevators but they appeared to be working on them.As I said in my last review, this really is not a typical Crowne Plaza but, for the price, is worthwhile and, in my opinion, the best choice for a pre-cruise out of L.A.

We just got back from a 5 day stay at the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro. We had three people in a suite room. Nice views, but the neighborhood is not the best. It's very close to the port and Catalina Express, but otherwise, the location is not ideal. Upon entering, the lobby is neat and clean. The elevators need major renovation. At one point, there was only one elevator working while we were there. We called down to complain and all the front desk had to say was that they couldn't do anything about it. It was ridiculous. Parking is free, but a small lot. There was an anniversary party on Saturday night, and no spots were available after coming back to the hotel early on in the evening. But, we were allowed to park in the valet spots.Fantastic complimentary peanut butter cookies in the lobby at the front desk. But, the flavored water can be improved by removing the food coloring. It just looks very artificial. They charged us extra per day for the extra third person, which is ridiculous since we were already paying the higher rate for a suite that can sleep 4. The pull out couch was terrible. Our friend slept on it for two days and I called for a cot. They were happy to oblige and housekeeping was more than attentive and brought it up right away. A few minutes later, I got a call back from the front desk saying that "Just in case you didn't know, but you probably don't, but there will be a $15 charge for it." I told the person this was outrageous considering how uncomfortable the sofa bed was and it was falling apart. He was snooty and replied, "Well, I'M not charging you, the hotel is." If I wasn't involved in a few events in the area, I would have left then and there. It was so rude. He said he would speak to his manager to see what he can do. I never got a call back.We get our bill and I see that the cot was charged at $10 instead of $15, per night none the less. Upon check out, I told the front desk the situation and they removed the charge. They were very pleasant and didn't even blink at adjusting the charge. I just do not know why the first guy a) didn't call me back to confirm the charge and if I wanted it at all and b) why he was so rude about it. At least upon check out, we had nice people deal with our account.The restaurant is OK and has good coffee. It seems they renovated and it looks beautiful. They could use a couple more servers but everyone was very nice and attentive once they got to your table. The menu is good for breakfast but lunch and dinner are terrible. They need to update their menus and take away the photos of food.Our room was clean and spacious but no extra pillows or blankets in the closets. They keep the blowdryer in the armoire which we found odd. Good water pressure in the shower. No mini fridge in the room although it seemed there was something there.I do not think I will stay at this hotel again. For the price we paid, for an extra $100 a night we could have stayed at the Terra Nea resort in Ranchos Palos Verdes which was only ten minutes away and was gorgeous. I will recommend this hotel only if you need a place to stay before a cruise departure. Otherwise, I would suggest staying in Long Beach or on the other side of San Pedro near Western Avenue.I just wanted to say that the bell captain and his staff were terrific and so was the housekeeping staff. They were all very hardworking, pleasant and fast.

We arrived at the hotel late evening. Checking was quick as there was no one else there. By the time we had got to our room, they already had a crib in it for us. The room was clean and very nice. The hotel was very quiet. The elevator was very slow, but minor detail. We ate breakfast at the hotel in their restaurant. A bit expensive, but the food was good. We took the shuttle to the cruise dock, and it was quick and no problems with it. Great hotel to stay at if you are doing a cruise.

Excellent stop over before a cruise. The hotel is the hard of the San Pedro neighborhood. Very close to the cruise ship terminal with a shuttle. Nice location, good service, well appointed room. Would stay here again.
