Quality Hotel with a great location
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had a duplex room on the fifth floor which was comfortable and very quiet. The front desk staff was helpful with restaurant reservations. We loved Madrid and would definately stay here again.

Great location but very noisy
This hotel must have been great once, and seems to be have a confused identity on what sort of hotel it wants to be - modern or classic. While this hotel has a many pros, we would not choose to stay here again as it is too noisy. We stayed here for 3 nights.Pros¿¿¿ The rooms were very nicely appointed and very spacious. We really loved the mezzanine floor lay out.¿¿¿ Beds were very comfortable¿¿¿ Great views ¿¿¿ especially of the massive anti austerity measures demonstration being held outside the hotel that was being televised around the world!. Beautiful ancient mosiacs on the walls and roman artifacts on display.¿¿¿ Staff were friendly and helpful.¿¿¿ It is walking distance to the Prado Museum, train station and main shopping district.¿¿¿ Free and quick Internet.Cons¿¿¿ This is one of the noisiest hotels we have ever stayed in! You can hear everything that happens in the rooms on either side and above. The only way to get a good night sleep in this hotel is earplugs or sleeping tablets! If management ever read this review ¿¿¿ PLEASE supply earplugs, it would really help with your guest irritation levels.¿¿¿ The breakfast was way overpriced (25 euro) for a very limited buffet and average quality food. ¿¿¿ The dinner in Bar East 47 was dreadful! We ordered 'deconstructed hamburgers' that we requested medium but came out raw, and again the quality of the food was very average.

Best location
Excellent location near the Thyssen and Prado, next to Four Seasons. Excellent restaurant: foie gras with sherry reduction, perfectly seasoned with kosher salt; veal filet, again perfectly seasoned. Decent, but small wine list. Good service.

Very personable
My husband and I stayed at the Villa Real for some days in March/April. We were most impressed by the staff and their welcoming and cheerful demeanor. They were willing to help and also the manager let us check in early as our flight had arrived in the wee hours of the morning. The room we stayed in was spacious and it was nice to have a couch area and a bed. The one downside was one night we could hear the people next door having some loud intimate moments. One thing I loved about this room was the bath salts and the oil! There was nothing better that a hot aromatic soak after a long day of seeing the sights or a cold evening outside!The location of the hotel is very strategic to getting out and about, good restaurants as well as sight seeing.

Excellent Hotel in great Location
We had a great weekend staying at this hotel which is perfectly located just a few minutes walk from the Prado Art Gallery.Our room was on the front overlooking the Plaza de las Cortes. The Spanish Deputies building is also on this square so quite a heavy police presence making the area feel very safe. The room was clean with a very comfortable mattress although the bed itself did feel a bit flimsy. The furniture and decor are quite dark making the room seem a bit old fashioned. However it was large, on two levels with all the normal amenities you would expect in a hotel of this type.We didn't eat at the hotel, although the restaurant looked good. Breakfast was 23 euros, although if you booked the night before it was on offer at 18 euros. It still seemed a bit pricey so we opted to go out. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. The hotel bar was a good place for a drink after sightseeing or before going out for dinner. On checking in a voucher for a complimentary glass of champagne was given to us, which was a nice touch.The staff were the best thing about this hotel, all excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone we met from the doorman to the chambermaid was great and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Whilst in Madrid we suggest buying a two day Madrid City Bus Tour ticket (25 euros or 21 euros for one day). There are two routes and you can jump on and off up to 10pm. Route one starts at the Neptune fountain, about five minutes walk away from the hotel and takes you through historical Madrid. There is a stop for route two (modern Madrid) on the Plaza de las Cortes or it also starts at the Neptune Fountain. This route takes you up to the Real Madrid football stadium. We found using the bus the best way to get our bearings and then return to the interesting looking places.
