New Year
I have stayed in many hotels in Munich and this is the best I have used.The quality of the rooms, the bar and the breakfast is excellent. The staff were very efficient and very helpful.The Deutsche Museum is a few minutes walk away, the Isar river is across the road, the Hauptbahnhof about 2km away the nearest S bahn or U bahn station abot 5 minutes walk. City centre is about 3km away.Oktoberfest site is about 15minutes away.

Good place to stay for Oktoberfest
We went to Oktoberfest in Munich and needed a place that didn't cost a fortune. The rooms cost much less than the hotels near the Weisn. (A short taxi ride gets you there quickly.) The rooms were nice clean and roomy. We had a balcony in ours. They have a nice breakfast there as well.

Horrible Experience - staff entered my room
This was my first hotel stay on this trip to Germany and definitely my last at any of the Derag chain of hotels. I checked in at 10:00am and was told my room was ready, so I went to my room and decided to take a nap until 1:00pm when I was meeting a colleague. Approximately 45minutes after I got to my room and went to sleep someone came into my room unannounced. This was quite disturbing for many reasons, but mainly for the fact that I had turned the light on for the exterior of my room to indicate that the room was occupied. This hotel doesn't have the 'Do Not Enter' signs or similar for door knobs, nor do they have a chain lock or deadbolt for you to use while you are in the room, so the only thing to do is turn on the yellow light which indicates that the room is occupied. I immediately called down to the front desk and was assured they would look into this invasion of my privacy. I was later told that it was a 'new' mini-bar staff person who entered my room and the from desk staff apologized. Having some stranger enter my room once was bad enough, but the next morning at 8:11am, someone else entered my room, again while I was asleep and had the yellow light turned on to indicate I was in the room. It BLOWS my mind that someone came into my room again. I immediately called down to the front desk and was told that it was probably house keeping. I was not impressed, especially since I hadn't yet checked out and it was 8:11am, so why would housekeeping come into my room so early if I hadn't checked out? Anyways I quickly packed my bags and left the hotel to catch my flight to my next city. I would never stay here again and have told all the colleagues (I traveled and stayed with a group of 16 people who stayed at this hotel for meetings) that they should avoid it in the future as well.Lastly the bed was horrible, a single bed that was attached to the wall it was not easy to sleep in. Beware!

Nice Short Stay
We stayed in this hotel for 2 days. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were bigger than any hotel we stayed in Germany. It reminded me of an extended stay hotel that you see in the US since it had a small kitchenette and living area. The beds were comfortable with a feather bed blanket and pillows. The bathroom was large and had a tub and a bidet...although we didn't use either. The hotel is in a more residential neighborhood and it does take at least 15 - 20 mins to walk to the nearest train station. There isn't a ton of dining options close by but we did eat at Zoozie's which was about a block away and was an excellent place to eat. We ended up moving to another hotel closer to a train station and Munich's central city area because we like having more dining, shopping and nightlife options. I would stay at this hotel if I was staying an extended period. My only advice is to ask for a non-smoking floor. Someone was smoking in one of the rooms close to us and I found it hard to sleep because the smoke was seeping into our room.

ridiculously limited wifi
We only stayed one night and mostly the hotel seemed unexceptionable.But the room only came with one hour free wifi access - in a single block, not usable in parts - and further access had to be purchased - possibly by ringing reception, it wasn't clear to me - in similar-sized blocks (up to ¿¿¿13 euro for a whole day). To add insult to injury, there was a pamphlet on the desk offering us a dozen different phone numbers we could dial for *modem* Internet access. You'd think it was 1997 and not 2012.In this day and age, this is like a hotel offering water in the room for only one hour a day, with more purchasable if desired.
