Not up to scratch
The location of this hotel is very good - a nice corner of London, close to the centre but also in an interesting part of town. I was optimistic¿¿¿ until I arrived. The hotel is a charmless concrete lump, with foyer and logo to match. Then there was the receptionist. My booking was originally made for the wrong night, then corrected. This correction had not made it into the booking system: no problem, mistakes happen. But the receptionist then chose to disbelieve me, and demanded proof. When I showed her the correction letter that the hotel had emailed me she still refused to accept it. 10 minutes' discussion ensued. This is just poor service. Oh, and the beer is also exceptionally highly priced, and it appears they still try to charge for WiFi, in the face of market reality. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I will avoid this place in future.

OK hotel for a stay in London
This is a hotel at Regents Park, not particularly close to anything except the cricket ground. The metro LUL stop at St John's Wood is a good 15 minutes walk, not too bad but not very good when it is cold and raining. The room is spacey and the bathroom is adequate. make sure you bring your tooth brush /paste and slipper; this is not a hotel in China. bring your hair conditioner as hotel only gives you the basic stuff. No movie channels :-(Traditional English breakfast is acceptable and on the better side. plenty of food :-)cost ... on the high side given its location and interior.

all good
The hotel is of a good standard , the twin room was nicely furnished and clean and we did not have any unacceptable noise from other rooms or corridors. I had emailed the hotel a couple of days before and the requests were noted and implemented. The breakfast was also very good with wecoming and competant staff, so basically it was all good and an enjoyable stay.one thing to note is that the entrance is in a small road at the rear of the hotel, I got off the 13 bus and walked around the front only to have to walk back to basically where I got off the bus.

Hair all over our bathroom
The Danubius has lovely staff and the feel of an old hungarian hotel but overall it was not good value. Our Junior Suite was remarkably small, very tatty and run down and worse of all we discovered a bathroom floor covered in the previous guests hair. And this is keeping the worse of it too myself! When I say covered it looked like the previous guest had decided to have a major trim before going out and the cleaner had just not bothered cleaning up.It just felt grubby. I did complain (reception just din't want to answer my phone call so I had to eventually dial to housekeeping directly) and they did offer up a bottle of wine and they did clean my room again but really that is all a little bit too late. I think a clean room is probably the most important requirement for most people and on this the Danubius failed. On the plus side the staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable and it is in a good location. Apart from the poor housekeeping the rooms look dated and in desperate need of investment. Perfect for a '70's weekend but if you don't like flares you won't like the interiors. I am not sure I would go back despite the plus points.

What A Gem?
I cannot put my finger on what it was about this hotel I enjoyed so much especially since there were a few minor hiccups over the 2 might stay. The staff are SO friendly and it has more of a feel of a European than British hotel which I liked. Best gym of ANY hotel I've stayed in and open 24 hours which I like. All the food was really fresh, the rooms clean and comfortable. I was also pleased to find on-demand blockbuster films cost ¿¿2.95 to watch and not the exorbitant rate some London hotels charge. In fact, I felt more comfortable staying in this hotel than any other London hotels I've stayed and will always choose it from now on :)
