Very nice hotel. We stayed there from 27 Nov ¿¿¿ 1 Dec. Clean, spacious rooms, and close to the beach. It is however not close to the town centre. It is a little remote (which is what you may want), and it is not in waking distance to anything but the beach. The hotel offers free hire of bikes and a shuttle bus service that runs 2 free services per day (one morning and one evening), and another several services which cost 50 Baht per person, per trip. The hotel has a nice pool with swim up bar, and restaurant however staff at the restaurant are not too friendly. We preferred Koh Lanta to Khao Lak, however if we were to return to Khao Lak we would look for a hotel closer to town. All in all, this hotel is lovely, comfortable, clean, and resort-like! If that¿¿¿s what you¿¿¿re looking for, we would totally recommend this hotel. If however you¿¿¿re like us and prefer to be closer to the action, you might like to consider another hotel.

This hotel is the classic Thai holiday relaxation. Not glitzy, not over the top western adaptation, but wonderful Thai hospitality. Best hidden secret in Khao Lak. We stayed at the end of season, which is end of April or early May, but we still got full service. Weather was perfect and we would recommend this hotel to any couple or family looking for a secluded holiday.

We stayed in early April 2013 and overall it was great. The property has all the typical amenities you'd expect at a nice resort, including a tour desk, two restaurants, two bars, two pools, gift shop, Wi-Fi, Laundry Service and of course the quiet secluded beach.All of the staff were more than accomodating and helpful, especially with our two kids ages 2 and 7. We stayed in the Orchid Family Suite which was more than excellent, plenty of room with two king sized beds, two couches and a patio with chairs and jacuzzi. We had a couple problems with the Air Conditioner and Toilet, however, the service was sent to take care of the issue within minutes.All of the pictures you see of the beach and resort by others are exactly the way it is there. The beach waves are fine for little children to play and only the people staying at the hotel are there. Never more than 25 people on the beach at one time.Most of te food we had the hotel was above average, including the breakfast buffet that consisted of mostly American and European style foods, like eggs, bacon, cereal, yogurt, bread, meats, cheese and fresh fruits like bananas, mango and pineapple.The resort is located pretty far from Phuket (about 90 mintues by car), which in my opinion is a good thing. There is not a bunch of crowds or party people everywhere. Nice and quiet. There is a shuttle that goes to town of Khao Lak periodically throughout the day for either free or really cheap. In town is the usual shopping, fruit stands and restaurants or bars.Despite the fact that Khao Lak is away from Phuket, there is still much to do around the area, if you want more than the beach. You can do Elephant Trekking, Bamboo Rafting, Jungle Hikes, Snorkeling and Diving trips to the Similan Islands and so much more. Of course, if you just want to relax at the hotel and beach, that is great too.Overall, the hotel is fantastic and so too is the area. If you want good service, quiet location but still have the opportunity to do other tours, this is great!

We stayed 7 nights at Khaolak Orchid and it was superb. Staff really friendly, rooms perfectly adequate (have heard the older rooms are being refurbished this year). We ate in the restaurant twice and it was really nice. Shuttle bus to town really good and only 50 THB each! The hotel is about 15 min drive to town so all the restaurants and bars are easily accessible. The beach is beautiful. We walked along the beach in both directions and this is definitely the nicest part of the beach! Swimming pools were both lovely and always plenty of loungers available any time of day.The hotel organised our transfer from Phuket airport, very smooth service and great, quick communication with hotel, they replied to emails the same day. Brilliant.Would definitely recommend this hotel, we will return.

Stayed at the hotel, 2 adults and our daughters (11, 12) we had wanted a deluxe orchid family suite but they didn't have availability so had interconnecting rooms which were fantastic. Large spacious rooms, large bathroom and a view of the sea and pool. Cleaned every day, beach and bath towels provided and water, tea and coffee included. Mini bar prices quite reasonable too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the included transport into the town a few times. Booking the package with the hotel directly is very good value as you get transfers included (and its over an hour from the airport). We were slightly miffed as we should have had 20 percent off food and drinks at the hotel but they were offering that to all guests anyway.Had lovely massages in the spa and in the gardens, worked out to be about ¿¿6 for an hour! But be warned, if you're a wimp like me then don't have a thai massage!...The only negative thing we have to say about the hotel was the restaurant. We found the food and drinks to be expensive, and quite a lot more expensive than other restaurants locally and on the beach and the food wasn't as good as a lot of the food we'd eaten at others places either. This was a shame as the restaurant itself is lovely, lovely setting, live music etc it was a shame really as if it had Ben cheaper we would have chosen to eat there more often. It's actually a bit of a strange set up really as the kitchen for the restaurant is in a different part of the hotel, which may have been the reason there was some confusion with our orders and delay in the food arriving. Local area. We hired a car for 3 days- don't book with reception as its expensive. We booked with thai rent a car online and managed to get a car with fully insurance etc for ¿¿78 for 3 days. We also did loads of walking and explored e local area. It's really worth walking out of the hotel and down the beach to the left. Just 10 minutes away is lays bar/restaurant which is cheap and serves nice food. Very laid back atmosphere on the beach and it is a family run place so the children were involved in helping out which was nice to see. If you continue walking to the left, cross over the estuary (check for tide times a it gets very high late at night) then after about 30 mins you get to a few bars and restaurants along the beach, all lit up with a choice of restaurants to eat at- really good atmosphere. Behind this part is also a little village with restaurants which is nice too, and a much more relaxed, quieter less smelly commercial option to the main village of khao lak. If you walk to the right of the hotel, there is an interesting estuary with thai fishing boats, then after you cross that you come to a really small sweet little bar called coconut which has cheap drinks- you literally sit in a bamboo shack on the beach- very authentic. It's worth exploring the other beaches too, either by car or moped. White sand beach is beautiful! Nice bar on the beach too and beautiful views. We visited the khao sok national park where we rode elephants in the jungle. This was about 90 minutes away. We went to the similian islands on a day trip- although beautiful and amazing snorkelling, it was very commercial. Lots of speed boats arriving on the small strip of beach at the same time and all fighting to walk up to the viewpoint. There is e option to stay overnight on the similian islands if you he a chance- this would be an ideal opportunity to really enjoy the islands without all the tourists on boats! Shop around for the best price for the trip in town as we managed to he it for half the price advertised. W went to 3 different lots of waterfalls, none of that great really as they are very small! We went to a turtle sanctuary which was free and educational- they rescue the turtles from the similian islands. If you get a chance then it s worth going to khao sok lake and dam as you can go bamboo rafting and long tail boats. It's also worth staying overnight in
