This year there is a new chef and the food is to die for.... yummy yummy yummy with really great value. The assortment of tiny, individually hand crafted antipasti were as delicious as they were gorgeous. The chianti braised cinghiale was served with celery ignudi-- phenomenal! Perfect wine pairings with every course. And starting this year, la Palagina is making its own fabulous WINE. I <3 this place!

My husband & I stayed here for a week & loved it.Location: Set in the picture-prefect Tuscan hills, about a 10 minute drive from Figline Valdarno, so it is close to rail, to get to Florence, or Rome, also close to the A1 motorway. Easy to tour so many beautiful Tuscan towns along the Chianti wine trail.Rooms: We had a Junior Suite, which was more than we needed, including King Size Bed, 2 single beds, Jacuzzi, Shower, WC, bidet, etc. Included Cable TV. (Sky). Serviced daily.Service: The service from the Reception, the ground staff & housekeeping was always attentive, friendly, & professional. The young ladies at reception were always happy to help with information if you needed it.Restaurant: (We had breakfast included each morning & it was always fresh, Continental Breakfast.) Most importantly, for dinner, the Restaurant excels. The food was amazing. The service was fantastic, quite reasonably priced & we loved it so much that we ate there most nights. We tried as much on the menu as we could, and were always delighted.The only thing that I can think of to improve is the WiFi. It only has a small area of broadcast, so you need to sit near the reception to access WiFi. It would be much more useful if it was available in-room, as I often had to work at different hours & didn't want to go down to the reception area.All in all however, Villa La Palagina was excellent.

We stayed at La Palagina for one week and we enjoyed it tremendously. The location is like a dream with great views on the Tuscan hills. The staff is welcoming, helpful and courteous. It was an unforgettable experience and we will certainly come back. We can highly recommend La Palagina.

Everything about this hotel is perfect. We have stayed here a number of times and every stay was perfect in every respect. The staff, rooms, restaurant and setting could not be better. The hotel is perfectly located for touring and is approx 30mins from Florence and is on the Chianti Trail. We would suggest requesting a from at the front of the hotel overlooking the pool, best way innthe world to wake up to the view from here!

The Villa la Palagina, just outside of Figline Valdarno, is a true resort hotel occupying a villa inhabited since the sixteenth century by noble Florentine families. Our window provided unforgettable views of the vineyards, olive trees, lovely villas, and rolling hills that make Tuscany so incredibly beautiful. We were fortunate to look out over the fountain and the beautiful pool area. The hotel has two inviting swimming pools which appear to drain into the landscaping below. A pool bar is available for snacks or drinks while lounging. The interior rooms are large and beautifully decorated. However, our ensuite bathroom was one of the smallest we had on our trip, but it was nicely appointed with excellent amenities. The hotel has guest laundry facilities available a short walk from the main building. The restaurant was excellent with an extensive wine list, and of the caliber I would expect from this type of resort. Breakfast was served buffet-style in the restaurant and included a wide variety of choices. The staff of the lobby and restaurant were friendly and helpful during our trip. Leonard at the front desk was amazingly patient with our questions about the area and helping us arrange a trip into Florence. BTW, if you plan to go into Florence from here, I highly recommend taking the train from Figline Valdarno which is faster and less expensive than driving and parking in the city. The front desk has copied train schedules which made our trip easy. The hotel is also a fabulous place from which to explore the smaller cities and villages of the Chianti region in day trips, still allowing for sufficient time to enjoy the pools before dinner. This place is truly magical!
