Lovely hotel
Brilliant location. Big, clean and bright rooms. Friendly attentive staff. The reception staff- there English isn't great, but hey I can't speak Thai! The funny thing was though, other members of staff , like the bar staff, seemed to have a better grasp than the reception staff. It's an observation rather than a criticism as we always received a great service from all the staff. The breakfast is great with a good variety of dishes. There are always plenty of sun loungers and the pool bar is fun

Thoroughly enjoyable week away.
We've just returned from a week at the Ramada in Khao Lak and had a great time. The deluxe oasis room we booked was spacious, clean and well designed. The bathroom had a lovely free-standing stone bath and good shower. The staff across the whole resort were excellent, greeting us whenever we passed by and often going beyond the call of duty. My sister was unfortunately stung by a jellyfish at the beach (we never saw anyone else get stung the whole time we were there- unlucky!) and when we approached them the pool bar staff whipped us up a mixture of vinegar and herbs to apply and reduce the stinging. Very good. The same staff were also great at adjusting your umbrella to keep you in the shade and happy to chat about the weather or the ocean swimming conditions. To be truthful, although we had a great time there are a few reasons why the Ramada is not five stars for me. There is only one pool in the resort and one restaurant, which means after a few days you need to look elsewhere. We also ate a seafood buffet on our second night there and it was pretty bad. The starter vegetables were soft and not fresh, the cream sauce in some dishes (like prawn cocktail) had turned, there were flies on a lot of the fruit, and the fish (tuna/ prawns) was so overcooked it was impossible to eat. The strange thing is that the a-la-carte food from this restaurant is great so if you order off the menu your food is fine. But unfortunately this buffet meal was the most expensive of our trip and the worst. One of the best things about the Ramada is that, right next to it on the beach, is a litter of local restaurants. We tried a few of them over the week but kept going back to 'My Friend' restaurant which is the furthest one along. The food was great and we would recommend the salt and pepper prawns, prawns with basil, fried fish with chilli and kale with garlic. Really good, fresh food. At the end of the week they gave us a little handmade pottery keepsake which was very sweet. We also went to Amici Ristorante for pizza one night, which is 5 mins walk down the road and delicious, if a little more expensive. If you want to go on a snorkelling trip to the Similan Islands you can book a day trip through the hotel, but if you call the tour company direct you can get substantial discounts. We went with Fantastic Similan Travel and spent the day swimming with sea turtles and tropical fish. It was well worth the extra bit of organising. The only other thing we tried was the hotel spa which was lovely and relaxing. But one of our group also had a massage on the beach which is quite a lot cheaper and said that that was great too.

Our second visit, just as good as the first, thank you!
We were here at the same time last year and it was just as awesome. The rooms are always beautifully cleaned and on one occasion when we hadn't all left during the day, we called housekeeping close to 5pm to do our room and they were there almost instantly. The only glitch in this area was that I had booked a cot a couple of months before hand and when we arrived past 8pm it wasn't in our room, one was quickly supplied and set up, but given how late it was and how shattered my kids were after more than 12 hours in transit we would have been much happier if it had been there when we arrived. The food is always good, and yes, it's more expensive than outside the hotel, but that's what you expect, it's still cheaper than home. Room Service is always fairly quick and even though the poor staff have to bring it in the rain it doesn't get affected. The spa is lovely, I wish they weren't so busy so I could have taken advantage of the special deal offered, or maybe let us know of special deals before we arrive so we can book before we get there. We found the pool almost too warm in the afternoons, but that's not something you can control. We were pleasantly surprised that Toh remembered us from the previous year and he was as lovely as ever, we missed him and Pup when they weren't working, the pool doesn't have the same vibe without them at Happy Hour.We had a much better experience than last year with the Kids Club, activities went ahead as planned and the staff were much more engaged with the kids. Please note, there is a kids club, there are kids, if you don't like kids, maybe don't go, that'll save you getting annoyed by them splashing in the pool, or book yourself a private pool villa, the kids have every right to enjoy the pool.We always upgrade to a deluxe Lenai room and definitely think its worth it, we like having direct access to the garden and pool, though our door did not lock securely, with a bit of a jiggle it could be opened from the outside when locked, so make sure your valuables are in the safe. The large wine barrel bath was a cute novelty and the kids loved it, though I preferred the white egg shaped bath we had last year, it fits the room better ;). The rain shower head in our room possibly needs replacing, it wasn't very strong or consistent...Thanks again for a lovely holiday, we love coming to see you all and weren't planning on coming next year as we have a family commitment in the UK, but we're now going to try and fit a trip to see you guys again ;)

We fell in love with this resort
This was our first time in Khao Lak and at this resort and we were simply blown away! We travelled with our daughter Chloe who is nearly 3 and I cannot emphasise enough how wonderful the staff were with her. Everybody bent over backwards for us and we all adored the staff, especially Gee. Everything about this resort was perfect, from the room, to the beautiful pool, amazing breakfasts and the location on the beach with an easy walk to restaurants and shops and the local market. The vibe of the whole place was so warm, even with the other guests. We made some lovely new friends there (Australian and German) and we cannot wait to go back next year and see everyone again. It is the small touches that make Ramada special, such as the flowers and get well card they left for our daughter when she had a fall and hurt her lip. They also gave her a welcome gift with some toys and crayons and bucket and spade for the beach which was lovely. We would like to say a huge thanks to all of the staff who made our stay so special. You are the ones who make this resort my favourite I have ever stayed in, and it is because of you that we will be back next year. We are now in Phuket and have missed Ramada and the staff ever since we left. Our daughter is asking every day where Gee is! Thank you again, from Kate, Paul and Chloe :)

Beautiful Ramada
We returned from our trip to Thailand where we got married at the Ramada with 43 friends and family from all over the world! It was absolutely amazing! The staff provided fantastic service throughout the whole stay as well to all our guests on the wedding day. We stayed in the Jacuzzi Deluxe which was lovely! The wedding was beautiful, It had rained the first half of our stay, so when the sun came out on the weeding day it was magical, - it was so beautiful the way it was set up.We went with the Thai buffet ¿¿¿ the food was incredible.Michael, The manager of FB did such an amazing job with setting everything up for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony was located in the gardens and the reception was on the decking next to Sassi¿¿¿s.We would like to thank all the staff at the Ramada for all the hard work they put into our special day.The resort was a perfect choice for our wedding. We look forward to our next trip back.
