Great summerholiday
Already visited in 2011 we decided to return in 2012 in this hotel. Good atmosphere, nice pool, friendly staff and a great view from the garden in the "Val".Very easy situated to travel to Siena, Florence, Volterra etc. Kids really enjoyed the stay here!

An Amazing Place!
My wife and I just returned from Italy Celebrating our 25th Anniversary. By far the best hotel and experience was at the Contefreda. The staff was great from the moment we checked, the room was great. Nice view, clean and comfortable. The view from out at poolside was amazing. We sat and had a great bottle of Chianti and relaxed. We took the cooking class which i would recommend it was fun and informative. Chef Luca was great. We went out and bought a pasta machine so we can now make fresh pasta at home. But the highlight was our anniversary dinner in the wine cellar. Max and staff decorated the cellar with candles and music. it was amazing. Chef Luca made a menu just for us that night and the food was unbelievable!Everyone that works there was great, but i want to thank Max for taking such good care of us! The entire place made us feel as if we were at home. What great memories for our 25th! Do yourself a favor and stay at this Hotel!

Hotel Needs Serious Updating
We are amazed that the reviews for this hotel are so positive. Although the surroundings are beautiful, it is clear the actual hotel hasn't been updated in decades. The concierge was hit or miss, and no one offered to help with our bags upon arrival, given that we were a mother and two daughters traveling together. The carpets were stained and smelled, as did the hallways. The beds were the worst experience we've ever had - hard as a rock. We woke up everyday with back pain. The bedding was old, and thin, and the pillows were also thin. The walls were thin as well and we could hear everything above and next to us. The breakfast experience was just as bad, basic at best. The coffee was atrocious, and we do not understand how it is possible to make bad coffee and cappuccino in Italy. It was undrinkable. A lot of the staff did not speak English. One positive staff member was Max who is in charge of the wine cellar. We had an amazing tasting with him and if it were not for him, we would have left this hotel if we could have.

The place to stay in Tuscany!
We stayed here in November for 3 nights and we could have stayed for a month! The hotel has more charm than I can even explain in this review. The staff was wonderful, the room was clean, comfortable and even had a heated drying rack for your towels. There was a balcony that overlooked the Tuscany hillside. There was a wonderful breakfast included in the price with many choices, both hot and cold. There was a wine cellar that you could reserve for a priviate dinner by candlelight, which we did and the food was outstanding. We also ate in the restaurant at the hotel for other meals and we were never disappointed. We also had a wine tasting with Max, the "Wine Master" who was so knowledgeable and personable, it made the wine tasting one of our favorites. Did I mention that the wine tasting was also included in the price of the room! We would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend this hotel to everyone we know who travels to Tuscany. It made our trip to Italy even more special.

Beautiful hotel in Tuscany
My husband & I & 4 friends stayed at the hotel in late November. The hotel is beautifully located on a hill overlooking the vineyards of Tuscany. The wonderful staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. They were very friendly & helpful & no request was refused.We had dinner in the wine cellar which was spectacular. We also had a wine tasting with Max which was THE BEST. Max always had suggestions for dinner & great wines & when we requested something that wasn't on the menu he had Alessio bring us into the kitchen & he made whatever we wanted.I would highly recommend the Hotel Borgo for anyone. I could have stayed for a month!!!
