Kids so happy didn't leave the resort
Stayed here with a girlfriend and 3 kids aged 6, 10 and 13. The kids had the best time, we didn't even go anywhere else and happy kids means happy mums!!Golf driving range was alot of fun and cost NZD$10 for 2 buckets of balls, there were lots of clubs including kids sizes. The indoor heated pool was nice and warm and the spa pool (very small) not overly hot. The indoor pool is for kids who can swim as there is no toddler area. The kids also played tennis, went on the confidence course (older boys) and played in the games room. They also ran around with a football in the grounds and jumped on the trampoline. My girlfriend also used the small gym. The outdoor pool was closed for winter. There was also a squash court which we didn't use.We arrived at lunchtime and all enjoyed a reasonably priced lunch in Cafe Solway. We dined in the restaurant and all enjoyed the meals. We also all had the buffet breakfast which had a great selection of food, we only paid NZD$10 for breakfast and the kids dinners (which included a drink and desert) - this was great value for money.We each stayed in a room with 2 queen beds, there was no traffic noise but we did get woken by room doors slamming. The rooms have a jug and small fridge - no microwave. Our room opened onto a lawn area which was great for the kids. There was a heat pump in the room, no electric blankets (which we didn't need as the room was toasty warm).All the staff we dealt with were polite, efficient and seemed to enjoy their job.We all returned home after a weekend away, very relaxed, happy and feeling like we had been on holiday. Thanks, we look forward to returning.

Pleasantly surprised with our visit
We stayed one night at this Millenium Group Hotel as part of a road trip driving up the west coast from Wellington going through the Manawatu Gorge & we were on our way south back toWellington.Our Family had a great time at this stopover, we explored the property and were pleasantly surprised with the variety of activities available especially for children.We blasted a few Golf Balls at the driving range & played on the Confidence course.A very unique feature at the Hotel is the Cafe situated down by the Indoor Pool & Golf that has yummy food & drinks at vey reasonable prices, so we had an early tea here.There is also a restaurant on site if you require this dining style.We had a buffet breakast in the morning which was well presented with a good selection of food items & continued on our way south.The Staff were helpful & courteous, the accomodation was fine so we would have no hestation to return here if we passed this way again.

Accommodation very good; Restaurant hygiene not good!!!
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years. An ideal holiday place with kids. . Excellent indoor heated pool, and spa. Confidence course for older kids, tennis court. No traffic noise which is great the fact the Park is on a busy road. I rate the accommodation and the facilites very good. The restaurant felt a nice clean, up market place until i saw what the waitress did. Cleaning the seats and then cleaning the table with the same cloth is not the best hygiene practise!!!!.

Prompt response to criticism
The Copthorne Hotel in Masterton is a lovely quiet place to stay - we shared a Junior Suite (two bedrooms) with my mother and found there was plenty of room and absolutely no traffic noise. It is quite an old hotel that has been very smart in its day, and there was a leaking shower head in the bathroom which I complained about and got an instant grateful response saying that it would be seen to which is very impressive. It is also very commendable that there is a toilet separate to the bathroom, with its own handbasin.

Great for the family
Stayed during the school holidays. Was a favourite with the kids as there was plenty to keep them busy with the indoor pool and squash court. Nice clean room, fridge overstocked though, hard to fit some extra bits in. Several light bulbs went and they still had not replaced them by time we left. Would stay though.
