Great location, substandard cleanliness
My husband and I stayed at Four Points for three nights on a recent trip to Geelong. The trip had combined business meeting with a short break from daily routine in Melbourne. The hotel is superbly located, with a range of great restaurants literally just outside the front door. We had a balcony room facing Corio bay with a view that I could happily spend hours looking at. The hotel is located along the Eastern Beach Road, which runs along the bay and is very interesting to explore on foot, with a number of quaint buildings and artworks located alongside. The botanical gardens, which are very well worth a visit, are also located nearby, as is Westfield shopping centre.Hotel itself however was somewhat disappointing and on a grubby side, with furnishings (in the guest rooms as well as in reception areas) having seen better days and looking as though a good steam clean would not do them much harm. In all three days of stay, our room was not vacuumed once and wine glasses (especially) and coffee cups really did need a wash before they were fit to use (this is following room service). Other than cleanliness, room was comfortable and well equipped and the bed (king size, down quilt and pillows) was really luxurious and very-very comfy (with immaculately clean sheets). Reception staff were competent but not particularly friendly or welcoming. Kitchen was rather average also - food quality was not great (pork belly was really quite dried out and scallops were rubbery) and service was quite slow. Needless to say, we opted to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay. The all-important internet access was also a bit disappointing, with free Wi-Fi available in reception areas only, with internet access in the guest rooms charged by the hour.Overall, I found Four Points to be a comfortable, well-located hotel but somewhat overpriced for what it has to offer.

Great Location
The location of this hotel is excellent being across the road from Steampacket Gardens and the waterfront, close to many restaurants and shopping centres. Our room was your average hotel room nothing special but clean and comfortable. The bed was amazing and the pillows were so good that we have since ordered them for our own bedroom. We didn't like the shower curtain in the bathroom that kept wrapping itself around us as we tried to shower! Reception and cleaning staff were all friendly and helpful.There was a small balcony with a partial water view but unfortunately no outdoor furniture to sit on and enjoy the view.

A Weekend Hangout
Turns out that Geelong is very much a weekend destination. If you're planning on visiting during the Fall or Winter and during the week, the town may very much disappoint you, but not this hotel. With only a little over 100 rooms, you might expect service to be a little shabby, but not here. All of the team members were very friendly and responsive. If you're coming by car take advantage of the $25 valet parking, there is street parking which charges from 9a-5p, but is free over night, however, parking garages in the area are hard to find. The hotel is located right on the water front at the edge of a dinning and bar district which makes it the ideal place to launch your night from. There are some amazing restaurants along this strip, so don't limit yourself to just the hotel's restaurant. The rooms are a decent size, nothing special in terms of size, however, they do have balconies which is nice to enjoy a bottle of wine you may have picked up from a local vineyard and enjoy as the sun sets or as a night cap. The pool is great for swimming laps, not much more than that, but they do have an amazing steam room which will get as hot as you'd like.

Great location and very friendly staff, really helpful. Ideal location on Eastern Beach with restaurants on your doorstep! Also, walk up some steps across the road and you're at the Westfield Shopping Centre.

One of the better Four Points
The Four Points Geelong exceeded my expectations. The 7th floor room I was upgraded to was quite large with a great view of the bay. The location was perfectly located near many restaurants, bars, beach and a running trails. The hotel was quiet and offers a pool, steam room and gym. Unfortunately the gym does not have weights, only a few cardio machines. So I decided to go for a scenic run along the water. I recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in Geelong.
