Over priced! Run down hotel!
Overpriced tired looking neglected hotel. Room were dirty and neglected. Only thing going for it was the view! 1 toilet roll for 4 people! Paid $409 for one night! Overpriced, only thing going for it is location.

Bloody Beaut!
The restaurant was very nice, one of the best breakfast buffets I've had, everyone here went out of their way to make my stay comfortable, will definitely be staying there again. House keeping was great, front desk was the absolute best, and the restaurant staff were very accommodating.

Great location
Stayed for the weekend, great hotel, friendly staff, good rooms. Older hotel but has all you need when staying by the beach. Close to all the coastal walks which really are one of the highlights of the location!

Super staff and location
We made this hotel our base while travelling in Australia in April/May, staying for 3 or 4 nights each time and leaving some of our baggage in their care while we travelled to a different part of the country. In all we stayed for 12 nights over the month in a seaview room with a balcony which had a magnificent view. We had booked with some hesitation given the reviews on here but we wanted the location. It was good though to be forewarned about its rundown appearance - and, yes, it is faded grandeur, but everything in our room worked and it was very clean. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. At $309 a night with breakfast and parking it wasn't cheap but I think you get what you pay for given what other people have said about their rooms elsewhere in the hotel. It is still a very popular hotel with tourists and we're sad it will be closing at the end of next month. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable.

Not 4.5 star
We booked through Lastminute so we got a cheap room but still at most it is only a 3.5 star hotel. Maybe the $169 price should have been a hint.The reception area looked promising but then we got up to our room. What a disappointment Tired old decor, tired old furniture, an AC/heater out of the 70's, two of the worlds smallest TV's, one of which wasn't even a flat screen (when was the last time you could buy a TV without a flatscreen??), the remotes for the TV didn't work properly so I had to juggle between the two. However the bed was nice and comfortable.They are closing in June though to turn it into apartments so I guess nothhing has been updated for the last few years.Service was ordinary - we didn't have facewashers in our room and it tool two calls to reception to get it sorted. We parked underneath and for only $20/night was excellent value. What was annoying though was they didn't have an valets to park and collect your car for you - I would have though this was compulsory for a 4.5 star hotel. You also have to get one lift up to the lobby and then change lifts to continue up to the rooms - again very annoying.When we checked out on Sunday morning the lifts to the car park were out of order. No problem except that we weren't told by reception - we had to find out by ourselves. They could have warned us the lifts were out of order and we would have to carry our luggage down the stairs. They also could have asked if we needed help with our luggage or they could have minded our luggage while we went and collected the car and then put the luggage in on the driveway - but nothing - no help at all.Lastly just to top it all off the pay machines were not working. So after walking downstairs with our luggage we had to go back up to try and pay - but what they didn't tell us was that when we "validated" the parking ticket with reception that we didn't need to pay at the pay machines as the charge had already been transferred on to our room bill.Was there even a restaurant? When yo check in to a hotel you expect them to run through where the facilities are but we got nothing, no mention of restaurant, pool, spa or anything. Do they just assume that as you're in Bondi you'll walk down the road to get breakfast?I grew up in Sydney when the Swiss Grand was one of the 'icon' hotels particularly given its location. What a disapppointment - lucky they are closing down soon.My recommendation is to pay the extra and stay the Crown Plaza Coogee.
