A fairly good hotel with very good location
I stayed at the Benjamin for a week-long vacation in New York- Pretty good location: can walk to Central Park and all of Midtown; very close to a subway mini-hub (intersection of green/6, orange and blue lines) to go downtown, parts of uptown and Brooklyn directly, which is very convenient- A bit of old fashioned decor, in both the lobby and the room; there's a bit of antiquated feeling in the room (which, as many travelers would reckon, is often what's considered "upscale" is East Coast establishments)- Not that much of light exposure, unless you are in a very high floor: this is Midtown, so, plenty of high-rises in the surrounding blocks; do consider this factor if light exposure is important for you (it may not be in case you spent the whole day outside your room anyway)- All rooms come equipped with a kitchenetteAll in all, it's a fairly decent hotel, gets the job done, no frills, but I was not wow'ed. At a good price, it will be a good choice because of location

Outstanding, top notch
The Benjamin is by far one of the best values in NYC for luxury and space. We spent a couple of nights here for a wedding in the city. The rooms were clean and large with a mini kitchen including a fridge and microwave. It was perfect for having a little baby with us. We ordered up a few pillows from their Dream menu - novel and fun way to make the stay a little more luxurious. We also received a noise machine - another nice little touch for a loud city and perfect since my baby sleeps with one at home. The location was perfectly central to Grand Central and Central Park. The service was always friendly and we had a wonderful stay here.

Great Weekend at the Benjamin
Just spent the weekend in New York at the Benjamin. My wife and I stayed there on business a about a year ago and decided to return there last weekend. The location is perfect - only a few blocks from Central Park, Grand Central Station, and great shopping on Park Avenue. The updated rooms have a sitting area and a separate bedroom as well as a small kitchenette. We ended up with a terrace suite #2304 offering fantastic southern and east side views. The management and staff are personable and attentive - they immediately recognize you when leaving and returning. We received a hand written welcome note from the General Manager, Joe Gaeta welcoming us and offering assistance if needed. We will definately return.

Another Amazing Stay
There is absolutely no reason to stay at one of allegedly more prestigious behemoths like the Waldorf directly across the street. If you desire 1st class treatment and 1st class accommodations, The Benjamin Hotel is the place. Large rooms filled with luxurious furniture ,classic marble bathrooms with lighted mirrors, amazing kitchenettes, high end flat screens,windows that open and literally the best beds and pillows in the city. The staff led by the Gen Mgr Joe Gaeta are extremely attentive but seemingly invisible. The National restaurant is phenomenal as well. You feel as if you are living in an Upper East Side private residence. Its comfort and 1st class treatment cannot be matched.

Hotel Staff remarkedly good
On a recent "girls weekend in NYC" we visited the Benjamin and talked with Hartman Benson the Guest Service Agent. He was an exceptionally informative employee. He gave us a personal tour of a room, (remarking on the quality of the pillows and linens) --come on how many folks do that today-- told us the history of the hotel and all of this was done in a manner and quality ( calm and unhurried) that is not what the norm is in the city. This is a great hotel with a great location and the best staff you can imagine.
