wondefrul stay
Unlike the previous review elaietheo, my expierence was wonderful. The front desk supervisor, Chelsea May could not do enough for us to make sure our stay was comfortable. It's across the st. from the JWMarriott at half the price. The street car stops right outside the door. We opted out of the $29. resort fee, which is an option. The concierge in the lobby was very helpful. There is a coffee shop that has wine, beer, pastries and different coffees. With all the excellent resaurants in New Orleans, the fact that they dom not have a full service restaurant is not a deal breaker

Great Renovated Rooms - Close to Everything!
This is my second year staying at this property while in town for Jazzfest. Last year I was perfectly happy but the room was dated. This year it was a bit more expensive but everything had been renovated. I had a room with a sitting room that had a 2nd TV and a couch as well as windows all around the rooms. The staff at check-in could not have been nicer and a special thank you to Diana, the concierge, who checked on the progress of my shuttle for my return to the airport. This hotel is just outside of The French Quarter, which happily is close enough to everything but just far enough from the noise and crowds. There are two drug stores within 2-3 blocks of the hotel, so if you need snacks it's easy to get them - but c'mon folks you're in New Orleans - go out and eat!!!! Can't wait until next year!

B-E-A-Utiful
We got a great deal staying at this hotel! After arriving, we were greeted with the friendly smiles of the staff. After using valet for my car, I explained to the valet guy how my back doors were broke and sometimes did not lock back. The guy assured me that they would take care of everything and make sure my doors were locked. From the second floor balcony, I observed the guy move my car and before going inside he checked EVERY door to make sure they were locked. It's the little things that go the distance for customers! My only complaint is that the shower did not have enough pressure and the trolley was loud. All in all, thumbs up to the Royal St. Charles Hotel!

I went to new orleans with a friend. New Orleans its self was fantastic and i would recommend anyone who likes live music to go.The royal st charles is an average hotel but rooms are small. There is a resort fee of 29 dollars and parking is 32 dollars per day for valet and 19 dollars per day self park. The room was not ready on our arrival even though we were after the recommended arrival time. There is no proper food facilities in the hotel but is a tourist information adviser who was fairly helpful. Reception staff were of average service and there was no staff to help with getting bags to the room. The hotel was however very clean and comfortable and in a good location to visit all attractions.

Accomodations Nice but Service Atrocious!
Our room was quite pleasant, but I had an awful experience trying to switch from a room with a Kingsize bed to a room with two full while in town for a conference.I arrived at hotel, check-in went smoothly, and was able to switch the credit card that would be charged. However, I then found out I had reserved one king bed instead of two full beds by accident. I went to talk to the desk @11.00pm and was informed: No other rooms available - have to check back with desk the next morning, checkout is at 11.00. "Don't you know if people are checking out and can't you reserve a twobed-room for me now?" No, have to do it day of - but I'll look to see if anyone is checking out. Yes... there should be two rooms becoming available. "And you can't reserve one of them for me?" No, check back tomorrow, the earlier the better, checkout is at 11.00.I then went out to get a beignet, returned and found a different woman at desk. I thought I'd give it another try. It is now 12.30am: "I'd like to switch my room. Is there any way to do that here?" Just shakes her head at looks at me blankly. You'll have to come back at 11.00 tomorrow morning. I fall asleep at 2.00 (jetlag) and call down at 8.00am - both rooms are already gone. "Should I have called earlier?" Yes, try again tomorrow. I go down to talk to them again. "So, how early do I have to call?" The earlier the better. "7.00? 6.00? 5.00?" Sure. "Are any going to become available?" Yes, one will be. "Alright, and why can't you put my name in for it?" Because you're already reserved for this room. We can't have you booked in for two reservations. Then it looks to our system like there are two rooms unavailable, but really only one room is unavailable. "Can you not check me out of one room and then check me into the other?" No the system doesn't work like that. By the way, there will be a $25 upgrade fee.I check back later in the evening - 10.30pm. "Is the one room still available the next day?" Yes, it's still there. (She fiddles a bit - tries to help.) You're in a king with balcony? (Calls to ask someone who just checked in if they'll switch. No dice.) Try very early the next morning.I come down at 4.00am the next morning. The nightshift women is passed out at the back desk. The door guy is awake. "Hi, I came down to see about changing my room." You have to wait til 11.00 when checkout happens. "Yes, I've heard that, but I was told to come down very early to try and make the change - the earlier the better." Well, you have to wait til morning. "When does morning start? Is this not morning?" You should come back when the next shift starts. "At?" At 7.00. "Well, I don't want to miss the window for getting this room because there's only one." I'll tell her you were here. "Okay, but I'll come back at 7.00 just to check."7:00am. (Still previous shift, but woman now awake.) "Hi, was wondering if I could switch from a king to a room with two beds." I'll look.... sorry, no rooms available. "Really? How is that possible? There was one available at 10:30 last night and I was here at 4.00 and left a message with the guy, so noone should have booked it before me. Someone must have booked it online. "Really? I've been trying for three days now to get this room changed." Well, let me look. Okay, there will be a $10 room upgrade fee. "You found one?" Well, someone didn't arrive last night so I checked them out and put you in instead.Okay... Just to enumerate: 1) Either their computer system is retarded or they were lying to me. 2) There is no protocol for dealing with this request because every staff member said something different. 3) I was obliged not only to be pushy to get what I needed (there were going to be three of us sleeping in the room) but also get up at extremely inconvenient times.Check-out time. $30+tax fee on the card. "What is this?" Room upgrade fee. "But why is it $30?" There's a $25.00 upgrade fee.
