Just ok if flying in or out
I flew in from Hong Kong, and wanted to sleep before my long drive to Reno. The hotel is clean, and has no smells or issues with staff, and a shuttle that is prompt and efficient. Other than that, it seemed as if the rooms had not been updated, and my biggest complaint was with road noise. There are no nearby restaurants, and the CalTrain station only operates on weekends.

It's an airport hotel, it's average but fine.
Let's be honest, if you're staying in an airport hotel your stay will be short, and from what I saw the Crowne Plaza is in the hotel district (Burlingame) near the airport. We got a cab costing $17 not realising there was a shuttle bus. What probably distinguishes this from other hotels is that it is within walking distance of Burlingame bars and restaurants and they are worth a visit for your evening meal.The hotel itself is quite dated but as I say for the price it was adequate. The pool and gym are tiny and we actually didn't use them as there were too many people in it (even though that was only two families!)There was a shuttle bus to Burlingame even though we didn't realise it's five minutes walk. I would highly recommend Broadway grill for what was the best steak I have ever tasted. It's on the public transit to San Fran itself but given our stay was one night we didn't avail of this.

Okay crowne plaza is suppose to be the crown jewel (no pun intended) of the holiday Inn chain. This place is tired looking and a bit past it's prime. So here is the good. Nice location for the airport and the Cal train and BART. Easy to drive to most everything. On site place to eat that I skipped for local places. The bad? Noise noise noise and more noise. It is so close to the airport you hear every plane. The 101 is within 100 yards. The walls are thin so you hear hallway noise. They charge for parking and Wi Fi. The last two are inexcusable in this day and age. Would I stay again. Probably for the price I would stay up the road at the Aloft instead. The price isn't justified for the quality. The quality is probably equal to a super 8.

Good Value, Close to Airport
The hotel is priced well and very close to the airport. It's ideal for anyone needing to spend the night that doesn't need to be in downtown SFO. There's an airport shuttle that runs every 30 minutes as well so you don't need to spend for public transportation. I've stayed here 3 different times on business trips and never had any issues. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are good. If you need to spent a lot of downtown, this hotel might not be the best option due to its location. It's about 14 miles from downtown, which when combined with SFO traffic, can be a terrible commute. I was surprised to see some of the negative reviews on here, particularly about it not being clean, being outdated, etc. Maybe I've been lucky but since I've had 3 good experiences, I'd say a bad experience is probably the exception to the rule.
