Channel Road Inn
This was the perfect spot for a relaxing, low-key weekend in Santa Monica. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and given a tour of the property which was welcoming and comfortable. The innkeeper apologized for giving us the only room available, a smaller room, she said, but we found it to be cozy and comfortable, decorated in shabby chic, with high quality linens and homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us. The breakfasts were wonderful- homemade and different everyday. You feel like you are visiting an old friend. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but not intrusive. There are plenty of places in the common areas, inside and outside, to read or study in privacy. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and bicycles are available to visitors of the Inn. It is possible to bicycle for miles on the sidewalk along the beach. Several very good restaurants are within walking distance of the Inn. The Getty Villa, filled with Greek and Roman artifacts and sculpture and beautiful views and gardens, is a short drive up the road, and it's free. We spent most of one day there. This was our first stay here and I can't wait to go back, and try the other Four Sister Inns!

Amazing a real home from home
This place is amazing. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome especially with the home made cookies and welcome note left in our room. Our room was a cozy queen which was nicely decorated. There is a lovely garden which you can use and also use of bikes. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the breakfast was so nice as was the afternoon nibbles and wine. If you don't want to walk into town which is about 15 minutes away there are enough restaurants nearby. The house was so nice and the decor was tasteful and it was spotlessly clean. The only thing I would say is ask for a front room because ours was at the back which had a fairly busy road running behind it but it didn't spoil our stay. I would recommend this accomodation to everybody. It's good value for money and it even outdid some of the 5star hotels we stayed in on our trip.

A Beautiful Start to our Vacation
On our trip across America we stayed at this beautiful inn for two nights to acclimatize after the flight, sight see a bit and pick up our motorcycles. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished and the staff is very friendly, letting you feel at home very quickly. Our room was very cozy with a nice fireplace and very comfortable bed. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruits and juices, homemade quiches, and fresh baked breads. With the bikes the hotel has, which definitely could use a bit of maintenance and TLC, Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach is just a short ride away. This is definitely going to be our first choice for our next stay in LA.

A nice property if you choose the right room
Note: I have posted photos of the Petite Suite, as their website doesn't post an accurate photo of the room. We stayed in the Petite Suite for the first night, but it has a very funny smell in it (not smoke or mildew, but just odd smelling), therefore, we asked to switch to another room for the second night. The person working didn't seem surprised that we wanted to switch, and said that she noticed the smell as well as many other guests remarking on it. I cannot think why they don't stop booking that room (and the adjacent Garden room, which apparently also has a funny smell) until they can figure out what the problem is and rectify it. That would be the most professional thing to do.Once we had switched to the Cosy room (which, despite the name had a fair amount of space in both the bedroom and the bathroom), we were happy. All of the other rooms (except the two mentioned in the first paragraph) are in the main part of the inn, above the breakfast room. The Petite suite and garden room are attached to the side of the main inn, on the other side of the kitchen.The breakfast is self serve and there is a hot dish, a toaster and spreads including cream cheese, a baked item, yogurt, and a fresh fruit platter. There was juice, tea and coffee, and they have a fridge for guests to store any supplemental items that they have purchased (such as soy milk or milk). The seating area is quite nice, with many tables for two.The location of the inn is on a busy street, and you can hear the cars going by. It is not too far from the ocean. There is no elevator, but there is a dumbwaiter (for staff use only). Parking is adjacent to the inn, and there are quite a few spots, as well as street parking for free. There are bicycles available for loan, but some of them were being repaired and so were out of commission.The inn has a restaurant menu book, but one of the restaurants had actually closed/changed owners, and the old menu was not removed. Thank goodness we checked wifi for directions before we headed out! Also, a couple of the reviews that were included seemed to have been placed next to the wrong restaurant menu (not the restaurant being reviewed). I hope someone from the Channel Road Inn will read this review and comment below if they fixed these mistakes. Such a small thing, but it would impress your guests.One more thing about the Petite suite - it is a main bedroom, with a wide door to the bathroom, and a narrow door on the other side of the bathroom to the 2nd bedroom which has a day bed and a desk and an open closet. There is a wheelchair ramp up to the main bedroom, but you wouldn't be able to take a wheelchair into the 2nd bedroom. See photos.

A quaint inn with a good location.
My wife & I recently returned from spending 5 nights at this 14 room inn. We searched for a cozy retreat among all of the hustle known as Los Angeles and am happy to report we found it here at the Channel road inn. The room was bright and airy. It felt like we were at a beach cottage. They serve a hot breakfast everyday with a nice asstmnt of fruit & breads. The inn was situated in a good location for us because it was easy to get to all of our destinations. It is also 2 blocks from the beach. They offer bikes to use, although they could use an updating. Our room was in the back of the inn so the road noise wasn't bad, but you could hear when other rooms run there water.
