Excellent place for a school trip - can't wait to return!
I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of a school tour of California earlier this year, it was a comfortable and friendly experience, to say the least! The decor carried with it a 60s vibe which made the fact we were close to Hollywood so much more exciting! We were out and about all day and the staff on the night shift were polite and courteous. The early pool opening times meant we could enjoy a splash before leaving early to explore the city, and a wonderful pool cleaner agreed to open the jacuzzi early before we left for the airport! The hotel staff didn't mind us sitting by the pool until the early hours chatting which had a lovely night time atmosphere. The rooms were quite dated but if you're an active traveller that shouldn't present a problem! The staff were all very helpful and pleasant which was a bonus! One downside to this hotel which is especially difficult for school aged travellers is the wifi! It only works in the hotel lobby and nowhere else! Made it very difficult to Skype family members! Overall a very good hotel and I can't wait to return in the future!

A little dated - but undergoing refurbishment
We were rather disappointed to have paid extra for direct pool access rooms only to find the pool closed for renovation, however the hotel did offer us a nights refund. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment - currently the lobby and pool, rooms will be next. Rooms are quite sizeable and kept spotlessly clean. A little dated in a 1970's/80's sort of way but perfectly adequate. Excellent service and food in the patio caf¿¿. Once refurbishments are complete hotel will be fine offering good value in a great location.

Great Location
We decided to stay for two nights at this hotel as part of our trip along the west coast of America.We found it to be a great location if you don¿¿¿t want to drive in LA. There was a bus stop outside the Lodge and a 3 minute ride took you straight to a Metro system station (next to Universal Studios) which allows you access to the whole of the city. The Lodge itself was very comfortable if a little dated. All the staff were more than willing to help with any information we wanted about the hotel itself or travel tips for places to visit.The room was very clean and the balcony facing the pool made a nice spot to chill out in the evening.If you are after a place to stay for a few nights in LA I would recommend it.

Fun weekend!
We stayed here for 2 nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Josh at the front desk was very courteous. It was 85 degrees out so we had planned to spend a lot of time by the pool and what a great pool it is! We moseyed on over to the River Rock Lounge for some cocktails and puupuus and I was so excited to find a very hip and happening place with terrific background music . We loved the lamb chop lollipops and the shrimp tempura with 2 sauces and the signature cocktails. But the best part was the staff. Kelly, Jocelyn, Christina and Jovanna couldn't have been nicer. I cancelled our dinner reservations we had for another restaurant in town for the next night and we booked a reservation here instead. The BBQ Korean salmon was delicious and my husband's Jidori Chicken was first rate. The hotel definitely has a 40's vibe but an upcoming facelift is planned I'm told and we're excited to return to this gem of a property. Would have liked to see the bar at the pool open as the weather was so warm and would like to see food service to the pool extended beyond 2:00 p.m.

Good Value
We stayed here for 2 nights on our Californian road trip holiday as a base in Los Angeles. The place could probably do with a bit of a makeover and update, but that may affect the 1940's charm of the place!The rooms are large and comfortable, the restaurant is very good, and the staff were very efficient and friendly. All in all, a good place to stay for visiting Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood etc, well recommended.
