Avoid - Grossly Smelling Rooms!
The reception desk was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately the rooms just smell SO badly. Your nose never adapts, and I couldn't wait to check out first thing in the morning. The reception tried to solve the problem by offering a different room, but each of the 3 rooms I checked had such an awful smell. It even made our clothes stink. We spent 7¿¿hours total at the hotel, and I couldn't wait to leave. Hotels in little India are better, especially LaComme.

Mouldy
My husband and I stayed at D Oriental for two nights, we knew that it was a budget Hotel but the Bathroom ceiling was covered in mould. Also you needed to turn on the hot water outside the Bathroom door.The Air con leaked onto our bed both nights and the bed was horrible. Television was non-existent but having Chinatown at your door was awesome.

One word - Chinatown
Arrived in Petaling street around 9pm and we were very unsure if we were in the correct street of the hotel. The street is literally filled with vendors (left, right and middle of the street) and we had quite a trying time looking for the hotel. Stayed for 4 nights. Hotel has good wifi connection all throughout the place. The place is not new but I'd say the upkeep is fair. Room smells a bit weird, housekeeping sprays some air freshener everyday. Walls are quite thin and we could clearly hear the people staying in the next room. The staff were helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to buses/trains (we used the train everyday which saved us a lot of money than taking cabs). At the onset, we decided to stay in this hotel during the Formula One season, mainly because it is located in Chinatown, close to food at anytime of the night and/or day and we know that we'd be coming back from the circuit late at night.

An experience
Would not recommend this hotel. Located in the middle of Chinatown, so much in the middle you literally have to walk through a Chinese restaurant kitchen to get to the hotel. Dirty dark rooms with tiny windows, with dishonest staff. Left my ray ban sunglasses sitting on a desk beside the reception, went to walk out the door, realised that I had forgot them and the sunglasses were already gone. Staff looked at me blankly as asked for it back, no amount of arguing with them got them back.

good base if u want to explore china town ... not to sleep or long stay
We stayed here the first 2 nigts of our trip. The smell as walked into our room was putrid, between durion fruit and Mould/salt damp when we put the aircon on was alittle better, would have asked for a change of room but didnt gethere til 12:30am from a 16h flights and layovers, and justwanted to sleep,Location wise,If u are not fermilluar with kl, if you dont arrivein kl before 9am or after 11:30 pm this is not a good hotel to first come to, the streets here are filled with markets, and no cars can com down.. it is smack bang in the middle of chaos... beware if u arrive around midnight the road is free of vendors but filled with trash and rats, it is quickly cleaned up with in hour or 2 but looks like a dump:-)If you wanted to just explore china town and petaling markets well. This hotel would make a good base to return to store your shopping, refresh with shower , have a arvo sleep or just returning to ice cold aircon was nice... worth $25 in that respectThey offer a saftey box at desk for 5 myr for entire stayHas free wifi but hit and miss with service from floor 6 get 1 bar cutting in and out and pretty slow...Sheets and towels are clean fresh and whiteTv had a movie channel in english but was smallest crt tv i have ever seenOverall for a short stop over it was ok... but dont get to excited to come to this hotelAvoid room 618
