Perfect family fun destination
We were there Jan 2013 with two boys and their grandparents. Total 6 people, they kindly offered us VIP check-in and made two rooms connected. Very kind staff, wonderful facilities, amazing water park. Personally, I prefer small boutique hotel but Atlantis has its top notch services despite of the volume. Restaurants are too busy and buffet dinner place wasn't satisfying. Tables are too close to each other. Shuttle to the city was handy. One thing that I couldn't understand was that they refused to heat up -microwave- food for my son. We brought some cooked meal from home for midnight arrival and they said they don't have this heat up service. Makes sense??? Other than that, super fun, boys wanted go back. Will definitely stay here next time.

An incredible hotel for holidays with children
Upon arrival you are impressed by the size of the hotel. Fifteen restaurants, a giant aquarium, a waterpark, two swimming pools, a small mall shop,, a club for kids, etc ...Despite the size of this hotel, the staff is very friendly and at your disposal to make your stay a great holiday.WONDERFUL

You won't feel special here
I'll admit it, I fell for the hype. After seeing this gigantic hotel over and over again on various websites and TV programmes it was the first place we thought of for our April holiday. We thought: 'It's got a water park attached to it and our 3 year old daughter will love it'. And to be fair, she did enjoy the water park, as 3 year olds do.I'm not going to talk about the facilities. As a building, Atlantis is very Dubai. The hotel is HUGE and the public areas are decorated and finished to the highest standards. You step out of the taxi and its overwhelming that you're going to actually stay here. From there on its gets a bit stressful. Then its the massive queues on check in. A hotel of this size needs to have 20 check in desks!! I counted 3 people checking us in. And its not well organised at all. We recently stayed in a hotel in Cancun where there was a specially designated staff member to organise check in, with a complimentary drink of course. Nope, nothing like that here, after an 8 hour flight you basically have more hassle with people in front taking forever and people pushing in. The lobby area is huge, its noisy and the receptionist, who was nice enough, is rattling off loads of information in broken English, all of which makes things tricky to understand. Then they want to take your credit card to secure a deposit, I told them they can use my Debit Card instead (like I do in most places), so they said they would need to take something like $150 from my account per day (so like $750) and what I don't use they give it back to me in cash!! um.. .no thanks. So I was on a cash only basis the whole time.. really annoying because other hotels don't seem to treat you like a petty criminal THIS much, especially if you've already paid the figures they're charging. Like other people have already said: the room is only OK, and ours was a deluxe so we had a slightly bigger balcony. But what they didn't tell me was our room was also facing the car park with the HELIPAD right in front of it. Yes that's right, we were facing what I'm guessing is one of the worlds busiest helipads where people take tours around The Palm and rest of Dubai. And that's like one helicopter arriving and taking off every 15-20 minutes. Can you imagine how pleasant that is? We asked if we could change rooms: 'Sorry Sir we're very busy'. Of course. .the standard response you give to a standard nobody who means nothing to you.But the thing that seriously upset me came later on day 3. The incident itself wasn't huge but it reflected the way the hotel regard its guests. The night before, my daughter was not feeling well and had a very bad sleep. We stayed up with her most of the night and eventually by the morning she'd only just started sleeping. We were NOT going to wake her up for breakfast and she was jet lagged anyway. I asked reception whether it was ok if they could send a small breakfast plate for my daughter and my wife who wanted to stay with her, and only I would go down for breakfast. They told me we would have to pay additionally for that. I explained my daughter is unwell and would not be able to wake up and go down in time for breakfast 'Sorry sir, you have to pay extra'. Again, the standard response given to a worthless guest. So that was really annoying because supposedly 'lesser' hotels have been able to provide something in place of us going down for a full breakfast.So I went down straight to the concierge to make a formal complaint, no genuine response 'Ok just stay there' a girl told me without much interest or a hint of concern, so I waited for a few minutes and a man in a dark suit took me to once side, not in a separate room, no... right in the middle of the lobby. So I told him how upset I was that we're paying all this money and get told that we have to go down to breakfast at their time even if our child was ill. I told him that a 2 star hotel would have at least sent up a bread roll and a slice of butter. He arrogantl

Very good, too big, too expensive
The hotel is beautiful, nice rooms, outstanding staff. The safety seems to be a priority, I have never seen so many lifeguards per square meter than there ! You feel safe for your children even if you leave them to enjoy the aquaparc by themselves.The decoration of the lost chamber is beautiful. So why to rate 3, the price, really expensive. ¿¿¿750 for a room without any meal is quite expensive.And to pay on top of that to get internet is just amazing !I have stayed there 2 nights with wife and 2 children. It was a nice experience but I would not repeat it for 2 reason. Too expensive and too big.

OUTSTANDING.. STILL!
We have stayed at the Atlantis since it opened, usually twice a year. We always opt to go to the Maldives or another exclusive resort somewhere else in the world but always return due to the Atlantis due it the service which is second to none. We last stayed in October last year and would like to than Wenda Sidayen and Maryinella for making our trip simply perfect by a generous upgrade to a large suite. The room was spotless, vast and overlooked Dubai and main pools. Saffron is still outstanding in terms of service and its food choices¿¿¿I will say that the chefs need to pull back on the salt in the curries¿¿¿slightly salty which is not needed. The nly issue we had on our last trip was the Middle Eastern restuarant (Levatine) in the hotel. After arriving and sitting down for over 20 minutes outside, we still had received no drinks or menu. A great lack of service. We walked out and went back to Saffron. The hotel cannot be faulted apart from the poolside food which is average to say the least. The hotel needs to take a good look at standard and variety of the food they offer here. The only other disapointment was that all the candles what once shone all for all in ever corner of the hotel for many years have been removed, resulting in a loss of ambience. The spa is superb, the pools are wonderful. We will without a doubt be back again this year!
