A small or real disappointment?
Cape Panwa has been our usual stay in Phuket for over 15 years. However, this time was a real disappointment for us. The lobby is under renovation but we had no clue until our arrival. No bell boy or any staff to help with the luggage and to point out where the new entrance is (5-star hotel???). We booked a "Cape Suite" and was assigned Room # N102 which was not our regular zone in a main wing. It took the housekeeper more than 2 hours to come and set up for the extra person despite the direct phone instruction from the management. The television didn't work properly and again it took more than an hour before we received any attention from the staff. We decided to complain to the reception and the Executive Assistant Manager helped look into the matter and moved us to the new room L313. The room was much better than the last but unfortunately the air conditioner was out of order. It took them until 11.00 p.m. to fix the problem. I did expect the 5-star property to inspect the rooms and keep them better maintained.The disappointment didn't stop only at the room. The staff at the breakfast buffet were not hospitable. I don't know if the hotel worked them too hard or they are underpaid. They don't have any smile especially the lady at the egg station. We complained to one of the guys in the restaurant and the next day we saw a little improvement.We have chosen Cape Panwa time and again because of its "hideaway" location and service. This time, we still loved the location but we would appreciate a better service especially for local Thai guests from the "Thai" owned hotel. (seemed they treated foreign guests better)We would have to think twice before choosing this place again and would have to start looking for a new hideaway.

Memorable first trip to Phuket
This was our first trip to Phuket and I am happy to say it won't be our last. Cape Panwa was an excellent choice in that it was away from the hustle and bustle of patong. But in saying that it was also at least 1/2 hour drive to Phuket town and to the harbour where a lot of the tours left from. The rooms were spacious and the beds reasonably comfortable. The decor was a bit tired and the balconies and deck surrounding the pool needed some attention. We were there in May so it was nice and quiet and you could easily get a deck chair down at the beach or the pool, but I don't like your chances when it is busy. The meals were amazing especially their banquet nights. But if this doesn't interest you there are plenty of places to eat over the hill. The hotel offers a complimentary bus that leaves every 15 minutes at night and takes you over the hill to where there is more restaurants and a night market against the shore. Unfortunately one of the drawbacks is the staff don't understand English too well and communication is sometimes difficult.

Unpleasant staff makes for an unpleasant holiday
Don't expect the staff to bend over backwards at this place!!!! Upon arrival we were basically pointed to where our room was, the person on the front desk could barely speak English, infact, 90% of the staff couldn't speak English, this proved to be quite a task. We were told to book the Panwa Lodge on a Monday to have authentic Thai cuisine and watch the Thai dancers......which we did, so a group of us went down for our 6.30pm booking, only to find it closed, they had moved it up to the buffet area and failed let anyone know of the change. The pool closed at 8pm at night!! Staff were rude and unhelpful and barely smiled. The customer relations guy was uninterested in helping anyone and was rude also. The rooms were great, and the beach was beautiful except for the rubbish.....Such potential, I think it needs new management and staff....

Perfect!
Our first visit to Thailand and we were not disappointed.The Cape Panwa excelled our expectations.This was a perfect location for myself and my 7 year old son and the staff couldn,t be more helpful, missing their smiles and friendliness already!We were upgraded to a junior suite due to the renovations in the reception area but it didnt upset our holiday.Super pool and beautiful secluded beach with beach bar and amazing bar staff, especially Jennifer!The hills are not a problem with the shuttle tram running continuously backwards and forwards to the beach and the shuttle bus to the other bay.My favourite part of the day was breakfast, such a selection.My son had an an accident falling and cutting his chin....first aid room at hand although stitches were required so the reception staff organised a taxi to the hospital which waited for us and brought us back to the hotel safely.Once again amazing service from the staff, really looking after us. On our way home to England my son said " Thank you mum, that was the best holiday ever".Thank you all at The Cape Panwa!

Amazing hotel, staff and location....perfect escape!
I visited cape panwa hotel in summer. This was the low season so area was quiet and relaxing. Our room was clean , large and had fabulous beach views. Before we went the food was described as expensive but it averaged ¿¿5 for lunch....and the quality was fantastic...not to mention you are sat on the beautiful beach.We trialled all the restaurants during our stay and all were great, our favourite was the beach house...although the desert was very strange!I would highly recommend for those who want quiet, relaxation but ith the chance to taxi to town available.The trip desk couldn't do more and every staff member was helpful!Thanks cape panwa not only did we love our stay...we got engaged on your beach!
