Best hotel experience!
The hotel was very clean and well taken care of. They accomidated to our needs and the closeness it was to shore was amazing. Also There is a small hill just outside the hotel that gives an AMAZING view of the entire island.

My experience here was amazing!! We had a lot of fun and loved the location! The pool was very fun for our group. Also, the management was FANTASTIC!! They were very helpful and met all our needs! Highly suggested.

Fratalena
We held our fraternity formal here and we loved our stay at the Canyon Resort. Randy is very helpful and the staff is very nice and attentive to our needs. We had a great view from our hotels, the shuttle system was on time and very kind as well. My group was very thankful for the time we spent and were definitely going back next year.

OK, but just OK
Catalina is certainly a place from a by-gone era, that said this "resort" must use a by-gone definition of resort. It is a funky place on the side of the hill above Avalon. There is a very frequent 6 passenger shuttle that runs to/from Avalon every 15 minutes or so from early morning till 8:45 PM. Although it is up hill coming back it isn't a bad walk for adults used to walking. The onsite restaurant was closed Mon., Tues. and Wed. The in lobby continental breakfast on M, T & W had O.J. decent coffee and 1/2 & 1/2 although no milk. On Thurs. breakfast at the restaurant was poor poorly prepared and not want we ordered but we just ate it to get on with the day. The in room coffee had the nasty powdered whitener. We asked for a couple of actual glasses when we arrived on Monday and were told that only the restaurant had actual glasses (read above). The spa was never hot during our 4 day stay. At 8:00 AM our first morning someone with a leaf blower started working outside our room, when I opened the patio door at 8:45 AM he expressed surprise that I was sleeping in the room, I guess he thought 45 minutes of leaf blowing would go un-noticed, go figure. The front desk was populated by young people doing a job, nothing more. The property has potential but is run down by any standard. Would return if it was during some event and there were no other options. Lots of little dogs, some not particularly well behaved, had to dodge an ankle biter as we were getting into the shuttle to leave.
