Four days in paradise
Everyone raves about the ICH Le Moana and they are generally right - it is lovely and the staff were all great. However a few little issues to be aware of (nothing negative). First, overwater bungalows are great but only a few units front on to deep water so don't necessarily expect to be diving off your deck into the crystal clear water. Most of the units are over only 2 or 3 feet of water so definitely no jumping or diving. Also remember that the grounds are not large or extensive (not like the ICH Moorea or Tahiti) - there is plenty to do on the water but for more land based activities you might need to go over to the ICH Thalasso Spa (they run a complimentary shuttle boat). Speaking of the Thalasso Spa, we met a guest who was staying there who said that the Le Moana is the best pick of the two ICH resorts at Bora Bora ¿¿¿ much better location and better value.Restaurant service and quality is very good - and portion sizes are generous so you don't need entr¿¿e and mains if you want to keep costs down. Yes it is a bit pricey - but so what, you are on holidays in paradise ¿¿¿ enjoy it. The activities desk is great, Anna and Michael were excellent - specially recommend the snorkelling tour with Fabien.Room presentation and cleanliness was very good - only a bit of an issue where our bathroom although clean constantly had sewage pipe smell which was not so pleasant. Maintenance fixed it for a bit but it came back. Finally, your transit by boat from the airport can take a long time ¿¿¿ we arrived at night and the boat trip seemed to go on for ever ¿¿¿ but all good eventually, and a great welcome on arrival. Overall ¿¿¿ 100% recommendation.

Breathtaking
We were well taken care of immediately upon our arrival at the Bora Bora airport. Intercontinental Moana staff took care of our luggage and took us on a boat ride directly to the hotel. We were greeted by the Hotel Manager and given a personalized tour of the facility while our luggage was being taken to our bungalows. The Hotel, the rooms, the view, and the water is absolutely breathtaking. We didn't have to wait for our rooms to be cleaned. It was already prepared for us at 10:30 in the morning. The service was excellent and the breakfasts (included in the Ambassador Membership, which I highly recommend) were great. I really liked the location of this resort because it is attached to the main island of Bora Bora, whereas many, if not most of the major hotels are at the outer Motus and thus require a boat ride to get to town or anywhere on the main island. We preferred NOT to be held captive by the resort so we thought this was an ideal location. We used Jackie at Custom Tahiti to book and organize this trip and she was outstanding. We had great information and the travel was easy, comfortable, and worry-free.The staff at Intercontinental Manoa were very friendly and made an effort to get to know us. We had over-water bungalows with an indoor viewing coffee table in our rooms--awesome. if you looked for them you can see sting rays all the time around the bungalows. There are many activities to do and the kayaks, snorkel gear and towels are all complimentary. As far as excursions go we did the shark and ray snorkeling which was a total blast. Don't leave Bora Bora without doing this! We also scuba dived with Bora Diving. They were a lot of fun, safe and took us on really great dives--hardly any current, great visibility and great things to see. The eagle ray dive is truly amazing! A school of 30+ very big Eagle Rays swam back and forth right in front of us an put on a great show. The internet access on IC Moana was excellent and they allowed us late check out (4pm), although we had to change bungalows which was no big deal. The only negative I can say is that I wish they had an ATM machine on the property. Also there is no spa or Gym on the property. You have to take a boat ride to the outlying sister resort to use their facility. But otherwise they were the best.

Too good to be true!
From the second Bora Bora came into view from our window on the airplane, we fell in love with this special location. Really too amazing to describe here. There are more colors of blue than I have ever seen anywhere else in the world including the Caribbean. The second we walked into the small airport we were greeted with a beautiful lei by the resort representatives and never had to worry about another thing until we boarded the airplane for our departure. The service was amazing. They took care of our luggage and helped us immediately into our boat that would take us to our incredible InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort. Upon arrival at the resort we were welcomed by the resort manager and assistant manager. Timi was our personal representative who showed us all around the resort and explained all the services available to us. Like some of the other suggestions on Trip Advisor, the Ambassador membership is a must. Jackie at Custom Tahiti Travel was amazing in helping us with all the details and she highly suggested that we become Ambassador members. A big thanks to Jackie and Custom Tahiti Travel for making this trip so perfect. It only took a short time to check in and we were taken immediately to our over the water bungalow. All I can say is incredible. We had so much fun watching all the different fish swimming under our bungalow both day and night through our glass coffee table. It was amazing the many varieties of fish we were able to view at night vs. day time. Access to the water was right off our back balcony. We snorkeled all the time. The resort staff were extremely friendly and by the second day many of the staff were calling us by our names (very impressive). We looked forward to seeing Vahine every morning at breakfast. She was so friendly and made our breakfast experience so enjoyable. She had a very infectious smile! This was the best meal of the day. Too many great choices to choose from at the buffet. We shared lunches and also ate lunch at several of the local restaurants that were close to the resort (walking distance). The resort provided at no additional charge kayaks, stand up surf boards, snorkel gear and life jackets (if you needed them). One of my favorite activities was to kayak over to the nearby island and snorkel. It was truly like an underwater aquarium. Just incredible. My favorite activity of our entire trip was the shark and sting ray feeding excursion. It was one of the best excursions of any I have ever been on in over 30 years of travel. Unbelievable to see huge lemon sharks and black tip reef sharks feeding all around you. The sting ray feeding was equaling amazing. The entire time we were feeding the sting rays the reef sharks were circling us. Again, difficult to describe and give the activity justice. We also did two dives while on Bora Bora. The first was an amazing shark dive and the second was a dive with a huge group of Devil Rays. The second dive to see the Devil Rays was one of the top dives of all time. They were so graceful and beautiful. We just watched them for about 10 minutes swimming in a large group. Incredible is the only word to describe this dive. It was pretty windy the entire week we were at Bora Bora but it really didn't dampen any of our activities. We had good internet reception in our bungalow too. Unlike the resort on Moorea, Le Moana is located much closer to a few places to shop and great small local restaurants within walking distance of our resort. We also took the taxi into the village and did some shopping which was fun. The day of our departure we were given another room on the shore that we could use right up until we had to catch the boat back to the airport. Again, the general manager of the resort met us on the dock and thanks us for coming and gave us a great send off. If I could give this resort a score of beyond excellent that is what I would do! Will absolutely go back and stay here again.

A Marriage in Paradise
First let me say that we feel incredibly fortunate to have had our simple wedding in such a extraordinary place like Bora Bora. Apart from the scenery which is everything you've seen on postcards; I must extend a gracious THANK YOU! to Laurent, the Head Conceirge at Le Moana. He was a delight to deal with and made every accomodation possible to ensure that Lisa and I enjoyed our stay. The resort itself is smaller and more intimate than its counterparts on the Motu(barrier island). Please dont misunderstand, I mean that in a positive aspect. The employees knew us by name practically immediately and everyone greeted us with a smile. While the other hotels had some nice amenities, we didnt come to Bora Bora to see a nice hotel and plus if we wanted we could go to the sister resort (Thalasso) and use these features. Le Moana is the only major resort on the mainland and to us that was important. We had no desire to be locked at the resort or at the mercy of a ferry schedule like the other resorts. My wife and I do well enough for normal people but are by no means in the same tax bracket as a lot of the patrons to this island. That said, the Moana was a little more affordable than the St. Regis or Hilton and from the conversations we had with other "normal" income people that stayed at those locations, they didnt see the benefit to the added expense aside from more shops and fancier resturants. In summary, the Le Moana was an absolutely amazing experience and one we will never forget. Lisa and I thank you all so much for all you did. Most sincerely,Charles Conarroe
