What is TripAdvisor?
Really lovely room, but..
Our room was spacious, well-appointed and very comfortable. However, the so called free Wi-Fi was pathetic. I was using a tablet so couldn't connect...

Not even close to 4 star
I requested an early checkin and had confirmed with hotel. Upon arrival my room wasn't available had to wait a bit, then i was offered a room if i payed an additional $10 rather then waiting for my 'room' to be cleaned! I declined payment and they waived it!!!The room i was givens bathroom had not been cleaned properly, there was dust all over the furniture and residual cup marks on the side tables!!! I felt ill, called reception and the guy said he would pass all that on to the cleaners!!! WTF, i was shocked by his response and let him know, i was then transfered to the manager on duty who was somewhat apologetic... After relocating to a second room which was clean, i look up to the ceiling in the bathroom which was covered in mould!!! Call reception again, speak with manager and she responds by saying "that's why we having renovations"!!! Not a good justification and was shocked by the response and lack of customer service. I had to ask to be moved, AGAIN!third room was fine, but i tell you this is no four star hotel i felt like i was staying in a dodgy Motel, not a Hotel...Customer service was poor and i will never stay in another Rydges Hotel EVER!thank you for the worst hotel experience of my life!!!

Really lovely room, but..
Our room was spacious, well-appointed and very comfortable. However, the so called free Wi-Fi was pathetic. I was using a tablet so couldn't connect to the broadband and the Wi-Fi signal kept coming up as "out of range". Even on the ground floor the signal was weak. The advertised free Wi-Fi was one of the selling points that contributed to us choosing this hotel so I felt badly let down.We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel due to the outrageous prices. We went elsewhere and got a full English breakfast for half what they were charging. This also deterred us from having dinner at the hotel. There are loads of alternatives in Adelaide so we were spoilt for choice elsewhere.Having said all that, the room comfort, amenities and room rate was good value and, now that we know about the dining options we would definitely stay again if they can fix the Wi-Fi issue.

Mixed Bag
Having read the other reviews I was a bit apprehensive as to what I was going to find... but it was a work trip, I only needed somewhere to lay my head. On arrival I requested a nice quiet room and the very pleasant girl on reception said, no problem I've given you a great room. It was an upgrade in fact to the corner spa room. As some one else has commented, it sounds better than it was! First impressions were certainly 'nice room, looks clean and seems quiet, private balcony'. Unpacking my case, I noticed hair grips on the floor. Which can only lead me to believe the room was not hoovered after the last guests. For anyone who travels a lot for work, a bath can be a nice relaxing end to a long day flying and attending meetings. But a cursory glance at the bath showed it to be full of dead flies, scum and bodily hair shall we call it?! Urrrhhhh Urrrrhhhh no bath today!! Having gotten the wifi password from reception I discovered there was no coverage on the 5th floor. But a thoughtfully provided cable allowed for fast free internet access. I ordered a club sandwich and salad rather than chippies from room service and the response 'Well I dont think we can do that, its very busy you know, ill have to speak to the chef and it'll take an hour'. Ehhh..... its on the menu and I just dont want you to put the chips on the plate.When it did arrive an hour later, it was very tasty and the delivery fee was waived for the long wait. On turning back the bed covers I was pretty unimpressed to see long black hairs in the bed and though it did smell clean, the pillows didnt look clean. Everything I asked reception was dealt with pleasantly and efficiently and the staff were consistent in this regard. The continental breakfast is a fairly average selection of fare, but fine for grabbing something quick before work. Not enough tables and the staff were pretty slow to clean the tables that are there. Just before check out, my door entry system decided to fail and 4 trips up and down to reception to get new keys provided no solution. But to give the gentleman behind reception credit, he dispatched the maintenance man up immediately who opened the room and thankfully there was no missed flights! All in all, I'd say its an OK hotel. Not as clean as it could be, which is a pity because the room was modern with lovely facilities.

Nice park view location
On arriving at the Rydges we were upgraded to a large corner spa room which sounded better that it looked. It was very spacious with a comfortable bed but the furnishings etc were quite tired and the large windows rather grubby. On returning to the hotel after a trip into the hills we had a standard room which was much smarter, so perhaps renovations are still in progress.We liked the location as we could walk through the park to the stop for the free tram into the city however if you didn't like walking you would need to use taxis to get about.

3 families - 2 with broken aircon, 1 error in booking
1.- air-conditioner not working in room - changed to another room, REASONABLE OUTCOME2.- 2nd night unable to use secure car-park, full due to conference at motel, unwilling to open 2nd car park , suggested to park somewhere on the street. POOR OUTCOME
