Disappointed
We were Disappointed with the cleanliness or lack of in our room, spill marks down the front of the fridge, mouldy shower mat, dirty cups, window ledge outside was full of cigarette butts, we were in room 311 at the Mecure the Terrace. Also in the bar one of the chairs we went to sit on had stuck on food or spew down the front of it. We have stayed there before a few years ago and it was great, this time, I would not recommend it.

a couple of thoughts
I have stayed in the Mercure (Terrace) many times, hundreds of times if you count the years before it became the Mercure. I still like it, even though I can see signs of the movement down to three stars. The friendliness and helpfulness is still up to standard, just not as good as it was.A small niggle from this last time. The TV remote needed replacing, the staff member who came to look at it said that he would get a technician to do something about it the next day - but nothing was done.Michael Brown

Mercure Wellington

Enjoyed a good evening meal but the restaurant was a tad cool, staff did turn up heat but before we left, had turned it back off. We did pay for parking but perhaps Accor members could have free parking ??? Bedrooms were lovely and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Mercure Wellington.

Nothing to view!
I've just been to Mercure Hotel at the Terrace. I booked and paid my accommodation almost two months before coming and requested a higher floor to get the well publicised room with a view of the city or harbour. When I checked in, I was told that I am at 6th floor, the hotel have up to 9th floor. The room have two double beds a small fridge and basic tea/coffee with a kettle facility. I liked the idea that they are using FairTrade products. The bathroom have complimentry two small soaps, small bath gel and shampoo/conditioner tubes but no shower caps. There's a tv but you have to pay for the movies ($15) and free wifi up to 8M after that you have to pay. The carpark overnight we have to pay $20 plus credit card charges. The view is the hotel entrance, The Terrace street and the house across the road! What a disappoinment!!! The room is just above the reception office, street level but it is 6th floor without the famous view! The room is also very small.I asked the reception why this is our view? The answer, "We are fully booked, but I will have someone call you soon. I will check first." I waited, and waited... after and hour or so I called the reception. I asked why no one called back. Another staff answered and I repeated why. He also repeated the answer. "We are fully booked and there's nothing available." He will tell his colleague that I called.I was more disappointed... annoyed! I was too tired to insists.Afterwards I noticed the chair facing the mirror has fingerprints all over the armrests and dirty-white stains all over the seat. Yuk! I stopped checking around because I'm too tired after an almost 8hours of travel on the road I just want to hit the bed! I don't want to stay there again!

Excellent value for money
I arrived early in the morning to leave my bag for the day and was able to check in straight away. The room was clean and quiet and I had the best sleep of any hotel. Staff were friendly, especially at reception and in the house bar. Good to have reasonably priced a la carte options for breakfast too. I will stay again.
