Great position but expensive
My husband and I recently stayed in the tower in a king ocean front room for 5 nights. The hotel is a true oasis in busy Waikiki. The position of the hotel is perfect .. Quiet, serene, on the beach. Mai Tai bar is wonderful for a drink or snack. The royal hawaiin shopping centre has some great restaurants on the 3rd floor. Views from the room were wonderful, but the room was very small. We both had 2 suitcases and there was no where to put them. Bed was comfortable views lovely but balcony was not inviting due to the dividing cement wall and general finish. Concierge were wonderful. Check in was slow, a bit of a process . I loved the hotel but would probably choose something a bit larger next time.

Beautiful Hotel
A truly unique experience. Step back in time with a touch of class. The rooms where of an average size but it did have a modern bathroom .Staff where very friendly .Pool was a little small but with the sandy beach right their who cares. Crystal blue water with lots of beach chairs .The manicured gardens are amazing ,this is a hotel you must stay at.

1920's unsurpassed elegance,pink and anthurium heaven
You walk into your parents time in the 1940's with bowls full of 50 white and red anthuriums everywhere you look.The huge round gold glass and iron lights above you are the original lighting,There is a small window of "gatsby" dresses to show the fashion of the time.The one shop the bloew my mind was heavily beaded purses od fish, large shells and the best was a GUITAR for the rockers wives that stay there, I have yet to cost how many thousands of dollers they cost. The outdoor reastaurant had lounges and bar looking onto the beach,with hawaiian soft band playing,the ambiance we immediately felt was total relaxation in the upmarket enviromentIf I had $1000 a day to spend on a hotel this is in the bucket list.I was in love as soon as I walked in the door..

Rooms not up to standard
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days at the end of April. The room was small, and the balcony quite ugly with painted concrete floor and dividing wall. The rooms have shutters and you can hear them open and close next door and above. The bathroom was awful. The shower was in the bath right next to the toilet. Only one sink, all cramped. We couldn't use the airconditioning as it was so noisy and cut on and off all night. We had this attended to, but can't be fixed as this is how it is. We had a room in the tower, and it would never stay here again, even if it was for free. The swimming pool is tiny, you can't swim in it There is another pool a little bit bigger, but quite unacceptable for what we thought was a 5 star hotel. Wait times checking in was long. Staff were not familiar with the layout of rooms. We asked for a quiet room and were put next to the lifts oposite the service door. After the first breakfast we had breakfast at another hotel every day and all our meals at other hotels. Pleased to leave.

Beautiful Hotel, Great Service
We were greeted by courteous valet & bellman. While checking in (which was quick) we were given hibiscus tea and cool clothes to refresh with. The grounds are stunning, the large porches with rocking chairs & couches are more than inviting. We did have drinks and an appetizer the Mai Tai Bar. It was a nice place to grab a drink and a quick bite while people watching. This hotel is very close to lots of shopping, whether upscale or souvenir shopping.Everyone we encountered at this resort was happy, helpful and courteous.We stayed in a Garden View room. The only thing that failed to meet our expectations was the extremely small bathroom-barely enough room for 1 person. However, this is the only place we would ever stay when we visit Waikiki again.Mahalo!
