good location great value
We needed somewhere to stay while in town for our niece's graduation. The hotel is very conveniently located - on western end of Robson St. close to Stanley Park and English Bay. There is a bus stop right outside the door (easy and cheap way to get to the airport - ask at the desk). Our room had a balcony (I think most rooms do) with a great view; while the furniture could use some updating everything functioned well, the bed was comfortable, high water pressure; very good value considering the cost of other hotels in the area and the people working there very friendly and helpful. There is a fridge in the room and markets/whole foods/safeway nearby also coffee shops and a variety of restaurants to check out.

Empire Hotel in Downtown Vancouver.
Stayed here, spur of the moment, when my son's apartment filled up with all my kids. No room left for Dad!! So did a quick search, and Empire was running a special, and was 3 blocks away! Staff was helpful and friendly. Everything was serviceable, and the room was clean!The best thing about this hotel was the view. There was no highrises to block the view. We got a city-view room, and it was spectacular! Stayed on the 20th, and the 30th floor for a night each. The first night, it was windy, and the old patio door rattled, but I was so tired, didn't bother me.

Good value, good location, friendly staff.
This is a good hotel for doing things downtown. The hotel is old and the rooms are tired looking...but for the price you can overlook a few things like that. The rooms are bright, the bed are comfortable and the higher rooms have great views of the city. You must go upstairs and enjoy a beverage in the bar....it rotates....80 minutes to do a full rotation and the view is stunning in every direction.....go in the evening and watch the sunset.

Great value, great location and breathtaking views
Booked my 4 nights already in November 2012: booking.com offered a 4 night stay for 330 CAD dollars. Hotel was easy to reach from the airport by public transport. Check in went fine, and I was given a room on the 35th floor with a breath taking view. The evolving bar/restaurant on floor 42 is highly recommended for a drink for beautiful views over the city , especially when the sun sets. The location of the hotel is perfect: so many shops and restaurants around the hotel. The hotel is also very close to Stanley Park and the Coal Harbour. Room was more than ok , size was perfect and it was kept very clean. I am a fan of this hotel :-)

Nice Hotel!
I liked this hotel. It is conveniently located. The shops and restaurants are nearby, and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. There are tours directly in the lobby where the bus picks you up from. The rooms are not ultra modern, but are clean, and the view from the balcony is beautiful, especially at sunset when the sky turns red. Another plus is the masseuse which is right in the lobby, and the massages are excellent!
