Jaded,needing upgrade
I stayed with my partner in this hotel.I must say the lobby is quite well maintained.But the fixtures at the corridor and in room furnitures are not.Opened the mini bar cabinet and the door was off its hinges.The wood panelling have scratches and look old.Service at restaurant I must say is under expectation.Tables are not quickly cleaned.i asked for cutleries which never came and i had to take from other table.the lady at egg station was not really hospitable,no greetings.location is ok,within 5min walk to mrt station.other than that nothing is exciting in the vicinity.

Failed terribly as a hotel
Booked a room for my director flying in just for a day, or rather less than 12 hours. He was supposed to settle some bank issues thus I booked a room at Amara as it was closeby to the banking headquarters and given that he will arrived at 2am, we wanted him to have more rest so he can go to the bank straight the next day.Prior to check-in, we wanted to call up the hotel to ensure that a room can be prepared and confirmed as he will be checking in pretty late, made more than 5 calls but no response from anyone, all departments seem un-contactable.The check in was normal and nothing to shout about. Next day, our director complained of the following:1) Dirty room, hair strands found on bedsheets of the bed2) Drinking cups were stained with black dots even though they were scrubbed.3) Shaving razors were USED and with someone else's hair found on the blades AND it was made to look like a new check in room amenity.Nothing else to comment more, JUST avoid, you'll be better off staying in cheaper hotels. For the kind of service, you should be able to expect the kind of service quality and mentality from this hotel.

great hotel and nice staffs
It is my first time stay at Amara hotel. only take less than 10 minutes to check-in. I love the club room and the hotel staffs were friendly and helpful. very clean and comfortable room. the hotel location next to restaurants, mart and cafes. I think it was a small shopping center just next door.the location can be reached approximately 20-30 minutes to or from changi airport. 10 minutes to orchard road. 5 miniutes to 1 fullerton.

Good for Business Trip
I stayed there on a business trip during Feb 2013. The hotel is at a good location and a short walk away from many offices in the CBD. It is also a well-known landmark among locals so even if you get lost on your way back (as I have), anyone on the street can easily point you in the right direction. The room is spacious and well lit. The bed is soft and provides a good night's sleep. Air conditioning is adequate as well. The staff were also very helpful and efficient especially in processing my check-in and check-out as I was in a rush on both occasions. The breakfast provided was very good as well.In summary, I would recommend to stay here on a business trip.

Nice hotel and good location
My family of three (that is with my adult son) stayed in a suite (two double rooms with connecting door) for 4 nights in April 2013. The room with king size bed was big and spacious, whereas the other room with two single beds was smaller. The rooms were clean and basic amenities were provided. The check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, staff were friendly. We did not try the breakfast in the hotel as there are hawker centres nearby (10 minutes walk), and the Tanjong Pagar MRT is just 5 minutes walk away. Therefore, you can reach most part of the city easily. The shopping mall next door has been upgraded and re-opened around November 2012. There are convenience and fashion stores, a food court, a supermarket and a few restaurants, cafe, in it.Overall, we have a pleasant stay in this hotel.
