Loved my stay!
I loved my stay at this hotel. I had a comfy room with a balcony and it was very beautiful. It is a bit far away from the historic center, but a nice 20-30 minute walk. The receptionists were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was great (especially the homemade cakes!). Free wifi throughout the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to any person traveling to Florence. Note: You pay when you check out and pay the additional city tax (¿¿¿4 per person per night).

Decent place with cheap parking
This hotel is a 30 minute walk from the center of Florence. However the number 14 bus is just around the corner and it's easy and cheap to get in town on this bus. They sell tickets at the front desk and the staff in this hotel is always very friendly and helpful. Parking is only 10 Euros a day which is a deal in Florcence. Some charge 30 Euros! Don't park under the tree in back because the birds will mess up your car. The Wi Fi worked well and was free in the room. The room was small for a four star with no place to open your luggage. Only one chair in the room and no power outlets close to the bed. Shower stall only which I prefer anyway. Bathroom was OK. Nice neighborhood to walk around in and eat and shop. Breakfast was fine.

No Reason to Stay Except Good Attitude
We spent 2 nights in Hotel Grifone and these is only one positive comment I can make which is the positive attitude of all employees. Especially when compared to other places in Italy, Grifone employees are very positive, very helpful and supportive. Despite my pervasive questions, they were answering patiently.In contrast, there is nothing else to buy from this hotel. Grifone is far from being 4 star hotel. Wireless internet connection is free but we had connecting problem first day and it was working second day. So, it is not consistent. Hotel provides one of the worst breakfasts I have ever experienced. There is no variety in the breakfast.Rooms are also not so attractive. You can almost fit into the rooms. Don't expect free space in the rooms. Furnishings are very old. You cannot adjust the air conditioning which was distracting. You are allowed to change fan speed only and it was working ineffective. Bathroom was working properly but there is nothing above average either. The hotel is located near the bus station. You can buy tickets from reception and easily reach to city center in 15, 20 minutes. However, hotel is inaccessible from city center on foot. You should take a bus or cab. In conclusion, this hotel could be considered in 2,5 or 3 star category. You should not have expectations beyond sleeping and taking a shower in the hotel.

nice and comfortable
Nice hotel staff were good and helpfulbut a bit slow, our room was great slept well,our breakfast was great plenty to eat ,internet like most places in Europe too expensive and slow,a thing that is missing in all Europe hotels is tea and coffee making facilities i dont understand why they dont supply

Outdated but comfortable
very 80's decor but overlooking that, we had a nice cool room with air conditioning - much needed in the extreme florence sun! rooms had a lot of space and were kept very clean. staff were also very friendly and helpful. a bit out of town, but very close to the bus stop and a short trip into the central city.
