Fantastic
We booked Park Plaza for a 1 night business trip. To say we were only there 1 night it has stood out as the best hotel we have stayed in. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, it was extremely clean and such a great location. Although it was a flying visit we were able to walk up to the London eye in the evening. Such a great location. We are now looking to book some time off and stay leisurely in the apartments.

Filthy room and hallway but nice staff
We booked a two bedroom suite with a river view and balcony. When we arrived, we were told that the hotel section was full so they were putting us in the residential section. The room was filthy and the hallway had a very bad odor! We showed a staff member who got the cleaning crew but the place was still extremely dirty. We were told that they would give us a different suite the next day but we did not want to chance it. We moved to a different hotel which was lovely. The staff did refund our money for the nights that we did not stay.

Couldn't have been better
We had a lovely stay - the staff made it a truly memorable visit and lots of nice touches to make it feel special. If you are lucky enough to get one of the rooms overlooking the river the views are spectacular.We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a perfect location for a visit to London.

Minor drawbacks to a wonderful weekend !
We stayed at the Plaza on the river for 2 nights to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We booked a 1 bedroom suite which was on the 9th floor overlooking the river......The suite was lovely with fabulous decor....a well equipped and furnished lounge area with a kitchenette. The bedroom was really nice and the bathroom wonderful, with a bath and separate shower. Robes and slipper are provided and a wonderful array of toiletries.The staff are very welcoming and friendly.However......The bed was very uncomfortable with a matress that was so hard that we could not sleep. We did report this to reception in the morning before we went out for the day and thought that something would be done in the 7 hours that we were away. Nothing had been done to rectify the problem .Eventually someone from housekeeping came to put an extra duvet on top of the matress, which didnt really make any difference !Also...the wonderful view of the Houses of parliament and Big Ben which are shown on the hotel website may not be the view that you get.....we were looking at Vauxhall bridge...not quite as pretty as the Palace of Westminster !

Almost perfection but not quite.
This is a great hotel and I would return without hesitation - unless it was the hieght of summer. What makes this a great hotel is the size and quality of the rooms, the location of the hotel, and the front staff. However there is one major detractor from a truely perfect hotel stay, and that is the absence of any air-conditioning in the room. This is a universal problem with hotels in Europe and this one is no exception. We stayed in May and the outside temperature was in the upper 50's - lower 60's. The rooms have full floor to ceiling glass windows which offer great river views, but which deliver a huge heat load to the building and rooms. The room temperature as approx. 78F and the cooling system is just a fan system that blows outside air into the room - no cooling of the air commonly refered to as air-conditioning. The result is that after a day in the city one returns to a hot and uncomfortable room. So I would return but not in summer as I could imagine it could be quite unbearable. Staff at front desk were very helpful, especially the supervisor, door staff are intermitant and disappear from time to time, with no one to help with bags from taxi's etc. The bar was closed for repair when we were there, as was the restaurant. But the rooms are to "die for" in terms of decor and size. Americans will appreciate the size but not the absence of air-con.
