Great Hotel & Staff

Hotwire Scam: Bait & Switch
At check in, we were told our Hotwire reservation was for a room with two double beds and that it would be an additional $30 to upgrade to a room with a King size. There was no mention of this anywhere on Hotwire, nor was it mentioned in our confirmation email. After complaining that this seemed unfair (we could have booked a 5-star nearby for $20 more, which would have surely had a King size bed), we were told that we could cancel our Hotwire reservation and get a refund and book a package on the hotel's website for less than Hotwire (depending on what we paid). The whole thing felt very scummy and was, to say the least, a very disappointing start to our trip. The Duty Manager, Dayna Huang, was so incredibly unhelpful. We spent 30 minutes arguing on the principle of this being a bait-and-switch and all she could offer, after spending five minutes scouring the Hotwire site to confirm that there was no mention of two double beds, was that her manager had a "print out" of the website somewhere that did indicate this and that she would send it to our room (we never relieved this fabled print out). Scam. Terrible Experience. I hope the $30 was worth leaving your guests with regret and disdain.

cONTEMPORARY HOTEL IN HEART OF VANCOUVER, BC
The Coastal Coal Harbour Hotel is a very contemporary hotel in the heart of Vancouver, BC. The entire hotel is well designed, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel's location allows you to walk to the heart of the business district and many of the tourist destinations as well as to the transportation hub of the region. Room service was prompt and the food was well-prepared and presented. Two disappointments / concerns: (1) the Internet service is very slow and inconsistent and (2) the TV interface is very antiquated and forces you to go through a range of movie options before arriving at the selection of TV channels.

What a hotel!
We stayed here for a week and it was excellent. Very modern with decent sized rooms and bathrooms and a good restaurant on the second floor. The beds were just fantastic: not too soft and not too firm with a pillow top matress. And the hotel's location on Coal Harbour just can't be beat! That area is arguably the nicest location in all of downtown Vancouver and the Coast is right in the middle of it. So shops, restaurants, a 7-11, the metro stations and the world-famous Stanley Park are all within walking distance. Added bonus for those looking to run the Vancouver Marathon and Half-marathon: the finish line is right outside the hotel's back entrance! I repeat: right outside, 20 feet away!

Exceeded Expectations
Hotel staff was just awesome, Hotel Room was Excellent, clean and roomy and located close to the Harbor, Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and friendly. Got in the day of the Vancouver Marathon-- Staff did a great job of directing us. I will be a return visitor.
