Very Nice, But Somewhat Uninspired
My wife and I stayed at the Omni in San Francisco for three nights in March 2013. It was very clean and nice, the service was excellent, and it's a classy joint. I would definitely recommend it. The decor is a bit boring, but still. Nice place.I give it four stars instead of five because the hotel restaurant was really terrible. If you eat there, stick to steak and forget the greens. Wow.

Best hotel bed....ever!
My husband and I chose this hotel as the base for our trip to SF. I was very happy with this hotel and would not hesitate to return.We arrived early on a Friday morning and were happy to find out that our room was available before the normal check-in time (We expected to check our bags and come back). The hotel is only 4 blocks from the Montgomery stations (BART & Muni stops) and does have the California cable car go u and down the street. It is only two blocks from Chinatown and a short walk to the piers.Everyone at the hotel was friendly and professional. Here is my tip for those who complain about internet fees: join their free rewards program. Not only do you get free internet but you also get free hot beverages delivered to your room in the morning. Twice we chose to add some breakfast to that tray and it made it easier for us to start our adventures.On to the important part. The bed. This was the BEST hotel bed I have ever slept in. I had a cold while staying there and was worried about getting any sleep at all. It was perfect. The pillows were actually fluffy and provided excellent head support (I hate hotel pillows that are flat, its a personal pet peeve). Our room was very large for a city hotel room and full of modern touches as well as was very clean.We did opt for a higher floor so we had no trouble with noise. I really can't speak more highly of this hotel. The only downside is that the financial district has many places that seem to cater to the businesses so they are only open M-F. If you walk a few blocks over to Kearny St you will find restaurants that are open during the weekend. We planned on doing a lot of walking so this was not a problem for us. We got an excellent rate on the hotels website so shop around and see what you can get.A great hotel. Worth every penny we spent. We almost didn't leave the room because we were so comfortable!

Great experience and great location
We usually stay in botique hotels near Union Square. This time, however, due to a great online price we picked the Omni. The hotel is in the Financial district and thus is relatively quiet during the weekend, but it sits coveniently close to all of the places we like to walk. Chinatown, Union Square, Ferry Building, etc. are all close. As you can tell by the other reviews, the staff service and friendliness is what sets the place apart. I had mentioned that the trip was a birthday celebration, and a bottle of champagne with chocolate cake just happened to be delivered to our room on the first day! Rooms are nothing out of the ordinary as far as decor, but they are fairly good size - including the bathroom (with sliding door). The bathroom actually had too many towels for us, so we stored a few in the closet. If you book, be sure to sign up for the loyalty program - it provides free wifi in the room, a beverage delivery in the morning, and newspaper. If you are a coffee drinker, avoid the Wolfgang Puck for the in room coffee maker and take a trip down to the bar for complimentary Starbucks in the morning.

Great hotel, perfect location and excellent service!
We stayed one night at the Omni after a week in Carmel before heading home. This was definitely a great way to close out a week's vacation! First off, upon arrival the valet announced that the parking rate was about HALF of what we had seen on the Internet so we opted to let them worry about the car. After a day's drive, it was a true pleasure to be greeted by friendly staff who made sure that everything was to our liking. A glass of champagne on arrival didn't hurt. The room, recently remodeled (as is the hotel) was immaculate. It was very well appointed and pleasant. Our window looked onto California street - and we were awakened a bit early on Saturday by a fundraiser on the landing of the office building across the street - but that wasn't the hotel's fault.The hotel is an easy walk from Union square and a multitude of restaurants. In the evening the concierge told us about the light show every night on the Bay Bridge - a nice walk.The San Francisco trolley runs right by the hotel making it very convenient to go around town.The stay was a very pleasant way to end our vacation. We highly recommend the Omni and would go back without hesitation.And oh yes: the price was very good and added to the overall value!

Best Concierge in San Fran: LEX
Lex the concierge really enhanced our trip. He recommended restaurants and events that he, himself,had experienced and enjoyed. Not only did he recommend restaurants, he spoke of the dishes he enjoyed. LEx recommended the Saturday morning farmer's market at the Ferry Building, and we had a great time. We also tremendously enjoyed his suggestions for pizza, Chinatown Chineses restaurant North Beach Italian restaurant, and Embarcadaro fusion restaurant. The Omni is perfectly located within one mile of North beach (don't miss), Embarcadaro, Fisherman's wharf, downtown, and Nob Hill. The staff were well-trained to greet and professionally interact with guests. Not at al snobbish; very welcoming. Valet parking is prompt and on Saturday and Sunday only $32.00. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows very comfortable. Unless you are walking to Nob Hill, you can avoid all hills from this location. The breakfast was very good (try the bowl of berries). The bar staff was polite, prompt and helpful.If this helps you choose a hotel, We enjoyed our stay at Omni 100% more than our last stay at the Ritz. In comparison,the Ritz is at the top of a very steep hill, terrible location for walking, the Ritz room we had was smal and dated, I felt the Ritz staff to be stuffy, and I felt the Ritz concierge not very helpful or personal. So, I highly recommend the Omni.I just read the review from "alisoncroft" who said the hotel staff was too friendly, and stepfordish. In my opinion, this is hogwash. The staff was professional, well trained, genuinely concerned about the customer and welcoming. The staff did not hoer or intrude. Service was perfect.
