Location, Price and Quality
My first stay at this hotel on Trip Advisor recommendation. Superb value across all areas - location (walking distance to everything), comfort (immaculate rooms), bar and dining (great service and food quality very high), reception staff (friendly and very helpful).No WiFi but will stay again.

Our second stay
This hotel has been a pleasure to stay at. It's comfortable, clean, tidy and ticks all the boxes for the business traveller.They have great conference facilities that we used on this trip. The rooms are light and bright if you need that. There are several different conference rooms that are reasonably priced. The hotel is close to the main transport hub of the railway / bus station making it easy access for locals, many of which use public transport.We'd use these conference facilities again.The restaurant and adjoining bar are roomy, comfortable and serve a great coffee (unusual for a hotel).

Short stay
Last room in the house... (or city) as a major event was on in Wellington and alsoSchool Holidays. Room was a "standard double".... Bed was small !!!! but comfortableAdequate would be the word, and clean with all the little bits supplied that you get.. The thing that we considered "not on" was the cost for this room which we consider "Prohibitive" for what we got... even if it was the last room... much toooooooo expensive. $425.00 for the two nights..... Come on!However I had the very BEST... Beef Wellington for dinner in the Hotel Restaurant, that I havetasted in a long time, and good service. If you like walking, this would be the location for you... or on business perhaps !

Way better than expected, but still average
I was surprised with the cleanliness of this hotel and the comfort of the beds. I slept great each night I stayed here! Views from the room were great, but the windows are all pretty dirty. Rooms are tiny and bland. Shower had great pressure and warmth, so that was good! No fitness facility on site. No free WiFi available, though no Wellington hotel offers that, but there was none available in the area, so expect $8 NZD/day for that. Front desk staff very helpful and polite. Overall, it turned out to be way better than I expected, but it's still just an average hotel. Good value though!

Average sums it up
As long as you realise this is a average, old bland hotel and nothing special, then your stay will be fine. The rooms are very (and I mean very!) small and dull, housekeeping is borderline. Staff are also bland (no matter how much you try to get them to smile) but will do what you request. All in all you get what you pay for. If someone took the 'bull by the horns' this hotel could be something more. Glad we only stayed for one night.
