Convenient location
Room was comfortable and well appointed, had a very swanky feel. Huge tv was amazing and I love the brand of complimentary toiletries they use- really good quality; they don't leave your skin/hair dry like the ones you find in most hotels (actually purchased some when I found the same brand in a shop). Was in a room directly beside the elavator; wasn't a real issue but there were a few times I was disturbed by loud guests late at night. No biggie but if you're a light sleeper I'd request another room. Bathroom was nice however the shower head screw had come loose which meant the shower head didn't stay at the right height unless you propped it completely upright and then it kept falling down. Only a 10 minute walk into the octagon, about a 20 min walk to the museum. Valet parking, but no drop off zone out the front which means if you're checking in you have to first find a park and then pay for that park in order to get your baggage out and hand the keys over.My main criticism with the room was that there was only one window that was able to be opened in a room that has no aircon or fan. I certainly wouldn't stay in the summer. Aircon in south island accommodation seems to be few and far between but I expected a hotel of this calibre to have aircon, so that was a bit disappointing.The best thing about this hotel- the bed; amazing! So comfy, best 2 nights sleep I had out of the full 2 weeks I was there. I've stayed in a Scenic Hotel previously (Auckland) and the bed was amazing there also so this seems to be a brand wide thing, very much appreciated.Overall a pretty good place to stay with a few little things letting them down (mainly the windows/aircon). Tip for Dunedin in general: not sure if it was just "something in the water" whilst I was staying there but the water in Dunedin tastes foul, at first I thought they'd been overzealous with cleaning chemicals on the faucet but it tastes the same outside of the hotel too, almost tastes over treated or something. My advice- buy some big litre water bottles for your stay.

lovely lovely place to stay - the room we had was very well appointed and the bed, linens and pillows extraordinarily good quality. The shower was fantastic - all the little things that made a difference were covered.

Great Place to Stay!
We were staying in Dunedin for three nights for our son's graduation from Otago University. This hotel has the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept on in any hotel - well done!The hotel has a very convenient location just down from the Octagon, and the rooms are well appointed and very warm - very important when you come to Dunedin when it's winter!There was only one small glitch - we had booked four rooms, and it was our understanding that they would all be on the same floor and adjoining each other. Somehow this did not get through from the Scenic Hotels reservation centre in Christchurch to the hotel itself, so we ended up with two rooms each on two separate floors - not the best when you are travelling with two grandmothers in their 80s. A bit disappointing but not a game breaker.We will definitely plan on staying here the same time next year when our other son graduates from Otago.

Excellent motel
My husband and I stayed for one night and were very impressed with the Scenic. The rooms were clean and modern and well furnished. The bed was incredibly comfortable with lovely pillows. There was no noise from other guests to be heard but unfortunately screaming people in the street below woke us several times during the night. We ate in the restaurant in the lobby downstairs. The service was great, price reasonable and presentation of the food was beautiful. Sadly we found it lacking in flavour. Just needed a bit more oomph to complete the dining experience. We would highly recommend staying here however and will be back again.
