Perfect!
The last time we spent time at this hotel was in January 2011. A month later the whole landscape changed. It was incredible to see the difference around the area and the IBIS is a great place to stay if you want to experience central Christchurch as it is now.Everything about our stay was perfect. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was exceptional. Great value for money (included in the room price this time), fresh and heaps of it!We highly recommend this hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff
This hotel is pretty well what you expect from an Ibis. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, the breakfast absolutely fine. The exceptional thing about the hotel is that it is one of the few buildings functioning normally in the middle of a city devastated by an earthquake, and the thing that really made the hotel is that the staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient (even in the middle of the night for those with jetlag).

Good hotel
Stayed here for a night. Check in was fast. Strong wifi with only 30 mins free at lobby. With computers as well. Basic amenities. Strong water pressure with warm water. Heater works extremely well. Beds were comfy. I slept soundly. Breakfast were fine, with basic range.

The only hotel in a broken city
We had no other choice, there were still no other hotels open in the city after the earthquake. The Ibis is very central - just across from the re:START Mall. The staff were terrific - very helpful and friendly. If I had other choices though I would not stay at this hotel again. The room was very small but had two (we couldn't decide if they were small queens or large doubles) beds squashed into it. We are a married couple and do still sleep in the same bed so only required one bed! However, it became clear what the other bed was for - somewhere to put everything! There is nowhere else to put anything - a very tiny shelf was under the window and that was it. So, everything was spread all over the other bed. The bathroom was TINY!! But, we did survive in the sad broken city.

Pleasant Enough Stay
I stayed here for one night while in CHCH for a conference. The room was comfortable but needed more pillow choice. It was surreal to be staying in the centre of this city that is so destroyed. It felt encouraging to be in the first hotel to be totally new in comfortable surroundings with very pleasant staff.
