Needs to be downgraded
This is not a 5 star hotel. Its getting old, the furniture is dated and the bathrooms are pathetic. A narrow little bath with a shower curtain is what you would expect in a 3 star establishment. The free slippers just don't put it in a 5 star category. The safe did not work, the aircon was smelly and there was a used shampoo in the bathroom when we checked in. The restaurant/bar was overpriced and noisy.

I've stayed here a couple of times now - once in a fairly standard exec room which was good value and about exactly what you'd expect in a business focussed hotel; once in a very good suite in their apartment section, and this rated highly.Plusses are pretty good value, a very good gym and large indoor pool/spa complex which is handy when travelling, and an ok location 5 minutes from downtown.I've also found the staff very good, well trained and ready to go the second mile.A couple of things need sorting - the internet access procedure is clunky when transferring from the "free internet" which is too slow to bother with, to the paid serviceIts also another hotel which now whacks you with extra fees for using a credit card, even in its restaurant, which irritates as debit cards often aren't a convenient alternative for business travellers. Hotels shouldn't do this.

Another great stay
Friendly staff, great food, peaceful room. Home away from home. The quality of my stay is always at a high standard and I will continue to return. Location is another great plus as it is located in the heart of the city and a short stroll to everything.

My Stay At The Pullman
On arrival my reservation was not accurate. Used a combination of complimentary night and paying night but it seemed to cause issues. On departure the same issue ocurred.The stay at the hotel was great!!! Excellent service, great staff, great food, and the rooms were fantastic.Thanks for the stay.RegardsJohn De Bono

Groups welcome here.
Our group of 30 stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The check in was smooth and the staff very friendly and helpful. It rained for the first couple of days and it was no trouble to use one of the hotels large umbrellas if you needed one. Our room/suite on the third floor faced the street and had no view at all! This really didn't matter as we weren't in our rooms that much. The two single queen sized beds were comfortable and took up most of the first room. The bathrooms were as expected in a Pullman and the room offered a separate sitting room to spread out in with tv and couch to relax on. The wifi in this hotel really lets it down. It doesn't work. You can get free wifi if you can wait for slow downloads or in desperation pay money to get a faster connection...even this was not good with our iPad. We ate breakfast in the hotel once (expensive for a light continental at $25). There's a comfy foyer with adjacent bar for meeting friends. The university is nearby and we saw lots of graduates in their gowns wandering around most days. The Auckland art gallery is a must and a short 15 minute walk away. Beware that most of Auckland is hilly and requires stamina to go up and down to the cafes and bistros. Taxis back up hill to the Pullman though we're very reasonable from the CBD.
