Great choice in a great location
We stayed at this hotel before we went on an extended cruise around Australia and across the Pacific. It was recommended to us by an Aussie friend who lives near the hotel. We booked very far in advance and obtained an excellent rate of about $200 (US) per night. The rooms were very clean, spacious suites with kitchenettes, and included Wi-Fi. The hotel is in a great location and all important tourist sites were either within walking distance, or perhaps a short taxi ride. There are many dining options in the neighborhood, so we did not eat in the attached coffee shop. In summary, we believe this hotel to be an excellent value in this very expensive city. The only negative comment I have is that although this is a Best Western Hotel, they refused to award me any points for my stay, as I was using a discounted rate by paying in full, in advance.

Nothing to complain
The hotel is at an ugly building, but the great surprise is inside of the rooms. They are very clean, spacious and confortable. Beds are comfy, bathroom is big and it has heating sistem. There's also a little kitchen with everything you might need. The location is perfect, in front of Hyde Park, near the subway and you can go walking to Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Central Station, Pitt Street and with a little more effort you can get to the Opera House too. I loved and I would definitely stay here again.

Very good in fine location
Located at the bottom of Hyde Park more or less at the corner of Oxford and Wentworth, not far from the Railway Station is this Stellar Hotel. A pleasant free-standing building in good ash-grey it has a roomy reception area When I stayed here, the bar-restaurant was in renovation but it had all the makings of a fine ambiance. The reception was efficient and very friendly. My room - more of a suite actually - was a spacious corner apartment. Lots of light; recently entirely renovated; excellent firm bed; a fine writing desk; huge TV-screen; extra table with three chairs; a nice chaise longue. Also a kitchenette with fully equipped bar and fridge (soundless!). Large bathroom (big shower but no bath). More than enough room for luggage; a safety deposit box. All was comfortable and handy.A few little things to carp about if one's in the mood: the lift was rather slow and 'halting'; WiFi on the slow side but it did function well.Housekeeping a bit on the less-than-entirely praiseworthy side; sloppy curtain-pulling; perhaps more vacuuming needed; bathroom not quite wiped down enough. I stayed here for a small week and much enjoyed it all.Easily recommended especially, too, for the very fair price.

Great central spot, very comfortable!
I stay here very regularly for work and it is always a great stay. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean with a well appointed kitchenette and all of them have been recently renovated. The beds are just as I like them, firm support and very comfortable, and the decor is restful and relaxed. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble and booking through their website is a breeze and always a really good reduced price if you look at least a week ahead.Being a small, inner-city hotel (it reminds me of small Paris hotels) there is no restuarant and limited room service but the central location has all of Surrey Hills and Sydney eating and drinks venues laid out for you.All in all a relaxed gem!

Forget the outside, the rooms are great.
First impressions on a rainy morning of a grey building on a busy road were not good. The small reception area and simple lounge were a further worry, but the room we had, at the rear of the property was excellent. It was large, not at all noisy, had a good kitchen area and large bathroom. The staff were very helpful, including letting us rest our weary heads by making the room available four hours before the advertised time.The position was good, we were able to walk to the city centre and there were plenty of eating places around the corner in Oxford Street.
