Family friendly, spacious with tired decor
Well run serviced apartment with spacious two bedroom apartment that suited our family of five with a big space between sleeping quarters. Decor is a little tired which probably suited us as we were travelling with small children. Had to unpack the mini bar so the kids didn't raid the chocolate and chips. Would have been nice to have had a plunger pot or something similar to make a decent cup of coffee. Full price of this establishment is a bit steep but if you can get a decent discount it is a comfortable stay

Underwhelming !!!
The first thing you will notice is the smell, which is a cross between mould & old sock.We stayed in room 117 which was situated directly above the glass canopy at the front which was covered in bird droppings. The balcony was filthy & had cigarette butts everywhere. You would think that for $185 a night they could at least supply an ashtray.The door to the balcony was also filthy.Exposed wiring on the air conditioner in the bedroom. Dryer ran red hot & cut out so I pulled the plug out of the wall for fear of it burning the place down.(really dangerous guys) We reported this to staff at front desk & they said they would have maintinance look at it but they were generally unconcerned. (no one came to fix it)We opted for an apartment so we could cook dinner & save some money but unfortunately there was only 1 little pot, no microwave dishes & no baking dish so had to go out to eat.(so much for self contained apartment).Just hopped out of the shower the next morning & was greeted by a man who had let himself in. He said "Oh your still here!, ill come back later!!" (thank god I had a towel around me) I looked at the clock thinking that I was running late, but no, it was 9.05am.Also reported this to the staff on the front desk & asked if they had by some chance changed their check-out time, but got the same response as the melting dryer incident, care factor ZIP !Tired, worn-out, smelly & intrusive. Curtainly not worth the money, wont be back.

Does the job
Overall average, room was spacious a bit outdated, comfortable bed, bathroom has shower over bath, in-room dining not a huge selection but the food was ok, however average price on mains being 30 dollars you may as well go to one of the restaurants in town for better quality and a better range. Also room service breakfast after ordered arrived in 15mins and was cold so it seemed as if it was not freshly made, had no time to waste so just had to zap it in the microwave otherwise would have sent it back. My overall feeling is this hotel is best suited for business travellers which I'm sure would be their biggest market.

Exceeded expectations
Rooms spacious and quiet. Room service food good. Meeting facilities are just what I needed. Staff helpful and friendly. Location is excellent, close to Canberra Centre and new eating joints in Braddon.The best bit was the shower, no water saving device meant I didn't have to run around to get wet. Handy on a cold Canberra morning.It is very good for what it is.

Very comfortable and convenient to CBD
Stayed at the Mantra for two days in April with my wife; a combination of business and yearly shopping trip to the capital. In almost every respect this is quite an excellent property: quick and efficient check-in; a large comfortable room with all the usual amenities; excellent breakfast choices at comparable prices to other Canberra hotels.Our only disappointment was in the quality of the bed. I should have known better, but accepted a king bed room. Not uncommonly, this was what I would call "industrial grade" without any mattress top layer, and so we both had uncomfortable sleeps.But everything else was good to excellent, and the trip was overall a success. I would definitely stay at the Mantra again for its convenience and quality combined, but ask for single/queen beds in the hope of avoiding the problem of sleeping on an unforgiving mattress.
