Perfect pre-cruise night!
Stayed here for one night before our Carnival Mexico cruise which departed from the nearby Queen Mary pier. Hotel is hip with great service and nice decor. Great view of the harbor. Location can't be beat! Directly across the street from the Aquarium of the Pacific and countless restaurants (don't let the next door Hooters get you down...there are some really fine restaurants within one or two blocks). We parked at the Hyatt for only $7/day (much cheaper than parking at the pier) and took a cab to the ship ($8 each way). Rooms are smaller than a standard Hyatt, but very nicely appointed. GREAT bathrooms! Would definitely stay here again. Please see Parker's Lighthouse Restaurant for a review of our dinner in Long Beach.

Small room but nice
We stayed at the Hyatt at the Pike May 26th and 27th after what we call, "a trip around the world" We came in to visit family after visiting London England. We were exhausted and on our second, leg of our vacation. The hotel is near the port, so we had a very nice ocean breeze. The hotel was very, modern and clean. It was picture book condition. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Winston (I think- guy with shoulder length blonde hair) he was very helpful. He helped us up to our room while attempting to make make small talk which we were very uninterested, but he remained polite. Once we got to our room he showed us how to operate to shower head as it gives you the option to use and hand held or rain shower. He also told us twice about the snacks and if we move anything we would be charged, due to the weight sensors. I appreciated it because after he left the room I told my four year old again and she knew it was "serious". Also the second night I had to carry my daughter in and someone working at the front desk came and opened the elevator door for me and sent me up to our floor without any questions asked. The room was small but nice and modern. The bathroom was SEXY, I just wanted to hang out in there. Our room looked out to a concrete courtyard, with tables. I'm sure this is the area where people have been complaining about hearing loud music but we didn't have that issue. The room service stops at 10pm and you need your room key to access the elevator. There is no valet and you have to park your car in the parking garage across the street, for $7 a night. Overall I would rate this as a sold 10/10 stay, the beds were comfortable, the room was small but clean and the employees were friendly. We were in room 519.If you have any questions I'll do my best to assist you

Average to poor
Booked our stay through American Express travel promised room with view & late check but received neither. Given room on 5 th floor, elevator doors opened to a navy rug covered in dirt. Mentioned I to front desk & was told house keeping would address in the morning & it was still there next day?occupancy was low why do they put you so far from the elevator? Tv quality was poor in the room, screen was snowy. Front desk kept putting off late check out, come back tomorrow twice is too much.

Start of our L.A. adventure
After battling the freeway from the airport we made it to our first stop of our LA adventure. Couple of great guys at reception upgraded our room and chatted about a long ago fishing trip in northern Ontario. Needless to say he won us over. Parking was right next door which made it handy and was very reasonably priced. Our room was modern contemporary which is usually not our taste but we loved it. There was a cozy little sitting area with a tv that flipped around in case you wanted to view while in bed. The shower was huge and we loved all the little toiletries that came with it. Can't say enough good things about the bed, soooooo comfy, don't know whether it was because we weren't fighting over space with our 3 felines at home or not, but it was worth some extra zzzzzzz"s. The great thing about this hotel is its location, right beside a walkway that takes you to all the waterfront paths and restaurants. We enjoyed an early morning jog, along with many others on one of the many paths. I kept telling my husband "I could live here". We never got to try the restaurant in the hotel as we wandered down across from the Queen Mary for a super steak dinner, but I could only imagine how good it would have been. We were amazed at how quiet it was while there, mid May and not a sole in sight after 9, which was fine for us but not if you're into night life. Overall a great start to L.A.

Very chic hotel
This use to be a Avia hotel. As such it is a boutique hotel with very modern decor. Parking was across the street at 24/day. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel has a total of 8 floors only with level 8 as the rooftop pool. Great views from up top. Pool is kinda small with only 6 loungers to lay back on but there are other tables n lounge chairs by the pool. The room was clean and very modern. The shower was by far one of the best Ive had. Very powerful, hot, fully tiled and very big. Would highly recommend if you are in LB. Great restaurants within 1 min walk, as well as movie theatres if your really bored that are 2 min away.
