Nice Hotel Off the Strip
Stayed for 3 nights. Room was large and comfortable with a partial view. Their Mardi Gras parade/show of the past has been discontinued but the casino is fun. Great staff and they have a shuttle to the strip.

Robbed While Sleeping in Room at Rio - Hotel Doesnt Care
We were robbed while we were in the room sleeping!! "Officer" Smart received my call to report the theft. She was rude and defensive and wanted to get me off the phone as fast as possible. I filed a report and every question they asked was to cover their own rear end. "Did you use the dead bolt?""Were your belongings in the safe?" I asked them, "would you put your stuff in a safe if you are sleeping in a room full of people you trust?" I have been a loyal customer of the Caesars company for a long time, (the hotel can see my gambling rates because I gave them my rewards number). Still, the hotel does not care that we were robbed. I ran an online search and people have the same complaints about the Flamingo and the Quad... DO NOT STAY AT A CAESARS COMPANY HOTEL (Caesars, Ballys, Flamingo, Quad, Rio...) YOU WILL GET ROBBED WHILE YOU SLEEP AND THE HOTEL WILL NOT HELP YOU

Nice rooms, but bad location, terrible food options, all for Strip prices.
The rooms are nice, and there are much higher priced locations with lower quality rooms than the Rio so I will give them that. The room prices we had were $179 (Saturday) and $89 (Sunday), so while not breaking the bank, I'd hope for the rest of the hotel to match the rooms. My biggest complaint. Food. Overpriced, no flavor, no originality, overpriced and not indicative of a quality hotel option in Las Vegas.I won't stay here again. I'll take a cab over to play poker next World Series. I will never pay to eat in their restaurants again and I felt compelled to tell my story online because of it.With so many other quality options, look somewhere else to stay.

Fun stay and decent room...
Pros: stayed in the regular part (not the tower), room is spacious and nice enough, but starting to show it's age. Easy trip to the strip, but might as well stay on the strip, by the time you add on all the fees the $20-30 lower room price for Rio becomes insignificant. Saw Penn and Teller which was really good.Cons: I've gotten used to the resort fee, but Vegas has recently taken it to a whole new level more ways to empty your pockets. Arrived at the Rio around 2:30pm, pretty big line, got to the desk at 3pm and was informed the early check-in fee of $20 would be accessed (there were some signs saying it 'may' be charged, but I assumed by mid-afternoon they would want to be checking in people to avoid an evening rush. Just one more way to soak their guests). I asked to waive it since it was 3pm, she went around the corner and 'asked her manager' which I doubt, and said she could cut it to $10 (on checkout I noticed it was actually taxed and turned into $11.20, LOL. Even the Fees are taxed at a whopping 12%). Anyways the room was spacious but so-so condition, there was a Keurig coffee-maker but no coffee. Called up and was informed housekeeping could deliver 3 K-cups for $8. LOL. Between the room, taxes, fees, taxes on fees, show tickets, high priced buffet, I'm already shelling out $500 for one night for an average room, and they can't even throw in a few K-cups? Plus having a lonely coffee maker sitting in the room with no coffee or supply packets just doesn't give a good feel. Did I mention if you haven't been to Vegas for awhile, you'll notice you'll now pay $10-$20 extra just to get 2 queen beds vs 1 king (never heard of this before anywhere, perhaps one more way to discourage non-gamblers with children from visiting). Went to the regular buffet for dinner, widest selection I've seen, but at $40 with tax you pay for it. We fell for the $11.99 add-on for "unlimited drinks". What a joke that is. They've stuck a bar area in the middle of the buffet, and you have to go stand up there to request your unlimited beer/wine. They have all these fancy bottles of Heineken, Blue Moon etc on display. When the barkeep finally showed up, he informed me my $12 of unlimited beer was actually only good for Coors light, none of the actual Beers they display. What a ripoff.

Great stay, but little things could have taken it to awesome!!!
First off, we had a blast here, Primarily because we spend so much time at the pool(s). They have 4 pools, the one with the beach area is mostly the kids pool. two large general public pools and an adults only pool open on Thursday thru Sunday. This pool has cushioned lounge chairs, a DJ and dancers. It is advertised as "European" but everyone was clothed. The restaurants were all good, and the buffet was good. Our room was very nice, bed and pillows were great. And our room was very clean. On the down side, the common areas were the not cleanest. For example, room service trays and large bags of dirty linens remained in the hall for over 24 hours. A crumpled up receipt laid on the floor outside the elevators for 3 days or more. While we loved the pool, there were often straws floating in the pool, and were the strainer baskets were emptied along the pool side, the little pile of debris would remain for a few days. The staff was very friendly and helpful. More friendly then the management (never interacted with any managers, but they would be walking all around, looking important). We would stay again if the price was good. but they could make a huge improvement by just being tidy!
