Great Stay Despite Room Size
I only have one really negative thing to say about our stay here and that is the shockingly small size of the rooms. We had 2 beds and with the dresser, there was almost no more room to move around. We had a crib for our baby and that really made things tight. The bathroom barely had enough room to turn around in. Just enough room betwen the shower and the toilet. One small disappointment was the Concierge Lounge. I expected a bit more from it, really. The dessert time was simply pathetic, just one plate of squares. The "supper" hour level was just OK, though the breakfast was quite good.Other than that, it was great. The bellhops were fantastic with our kids, talking to them and making them feel welcome. My 5 year old son went out of his way to find the same person (sorry, I wasn't around, so I don't know his name, I just got the story) and say good bye when we were leaving. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool area is by far the best I have been to in years and was the highlight for us. We had stayed in hotels in Anaheim and San Diego on our holiday and this was easily the best. It was too bad we were just there for the day to catch our plane home. The lobby staff were terrific and the entire lobby looked great. We took the airport shuttle in the morning and it was quick and convenient. The hotel staff went out of their way to order another shuttle to come around quickly when the previous shuttle couldn't fit our party of 7. Travelling with small children can be hard, but all the staff here really went out of their way to talk to my kids and make sure they were having fun and everything was OK. It was greatly appreciated. The only reason I don't give this a 5-star is because the rooms were so small. We were just there for one night, but if we were there for any longer, they would have become uncomfortable. Great for solo or couple travelers, I'm sure. Not so much for families.

Good times at LAX
he hotel has been updated and the rooms are comfortable They have flat screen TV's and the restaurants are good. The pool area is a super cool retro area. The hot tub is like a grotto and a lot of fun.The meeting rooms on the 18th floor are excellent. The one I was in had a great view of the runways. I got to watch planes land and take off. way cool.The bathrooms in the room are small. It might be hard if you have 2 people in the room. Stayed April 2013, traveled on business

In a different league from typical airport hotels
As a meeting planner who rarely books business at airport hotels (just not a market that often meets my employer's needs), I even more rarely stay at them on leisure travel--just not usually a good fit when you want to jump into the local scene within walking distance. But I had an awkwardly-timed arrival at LAX--not enough time to really to have a night on the town in my ultimate (and pricey) destination several miles away, but not late enough to only crash and go the next day. The idea of an airport hotel for the 1st night of my vacation was a little depressing until I found the LAX Airport Marriott.Two words: the pool! I'm hard pressed to think of a non-resort property that has anything close. It's as big and beautiful as the website pics suggest, and the perfect solution for me to make the most of that night.Perhaps more importantly, the front of house staff was truly outstanding--among the best I've encountered anywhere. Incredibly efficient, friendly, and had the very rare ability to anticipate questions before I asked them (or even thought of them!). The only weak spot was the outdoor valet/bell staff (the gentleman at the bell desk inside was superb): when I arrived, they were visibly put out when I declined assistance with my luggage, and it was hard to find someone when I needed a taxi at departure time.All in all, a great experience--I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great staff, super location, quiet
Facilitated an all day meeting at this hotel. Great meeting space and very attentive meeting and AV staff. The guest rooms are typical Marriott. Nice conceirge lounge on the 16th. Good room service - small menu selection but good execution. For being two blocks from LAX I was amazed how quiet it was - never heard any planes. Wow!

Room Without a View
This hotel is very convenient to the airport when you are laying over for a flight, but I would also stay here if I was visiting Los Angeles for a week. The beach shuttle to Manhattan Beach is very convenient and it runs all day. We had a layover of two nights so we took the shuttle to Manhattan Beach for the day we were there. It was great getting to the beach and the driver was very personable on the bus. We had a nice day walking around Manhattan Beach and we even saw dolphins off the pier! The weather was perfect and we had lunch at a funky little restaurant by the beach called "Rockin' Fish". The food was great and the fish was so fresh, it practically melted in your mouth! On the way back we stopped at one of the other shopping stops and then had to wait forty minutes for the shuttle bus. That was a drag but it is Los Angeles....and there is crazy traffic especially between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The hotel is pretty nice and we had a room on the fifth floor, but when we looked out our window, all we could see was a wall!!!!! I booked through Orbitz, so I sometimes wonder about the rooms you get when you book that way. We had a similar situation in San Diego when we got this tiny room in the back hall next to the emergency exit. Oh well, the fitness center is really good and the pool area is too. The Jacuzzi and pool was very clean and well maintained. The shuttle to the airport is convenient except we had a situation on the morning when we departed. A lot of airline personnel stay there and they acted like they owned the place, even in the line to get on the shuttle to the airport a few of them got in line and then let the rest of their crew get in line in front of everyone else waiting in line! It ended up being eight of them instead of the two originally in line. My husband made a comment to them and one of the flight attendants was really rude and told him that it was none of his business! Then they said, hey if we don't get on, YOU don't get on.......which meant they decided that they had priority for getting on the shuttle in front of us!!! It was very inconsiderate.
