Excellent Service
Stayed here while moving my daughter from LA to Pasadena. Could not have asked for better service! Greeted by very friendly valet and desk service, Marcus in particular. My room was clean and well maintained with a nice view of the swimming pool. The fitness center is small but adequate with fine operating equipment. It could be a little cooler in the work out room but they were experiencing record heat that weekend. I forgot a toothbrush and one was brought to my room within 5 minutes with a follow up phone call to make sure. The staff at the Bistro counter was friendly every morning. And the food we ordered was very good. I happened to be there on Mother's Day and heard many well wishes from the staff. I was teary leaving my daughter in front of the hotel, only to be given a box of Kleenex by the valet, along with some very kind words. I loved staying here and will definitely return to this hotel when I visit.

Stay Anywhere But Here
Let me preface by saying my hotel chain of choice is Marriott and I am a Gold status member in their rewards program. That said, I have never had such a bad experience at any hotel regardless of brand. It started when Marriott's 800 reservation line mistyped the arrival date for one of the two rooms I reserved. To put it mildly the front desk was anything but helpful just suggesting I needed to handle it with reservations and customer service using my cell phone. They wouldn't even help with the phone numbers. Once I resolved the reservation problem we headed to our rooms (front desk staff even forgot our welcome bag which they seemed to remember for everyone else we saw checking in) I was amazed at how poorly arranged the room was. The placement of the bed, couch and TV make viewing difficult and the bathroom door opens into the closet and sink area. Just hope you aren't standing there when someone comes out of the shower/toilet area.After we settled in, my wife decided to walk down and grab a glass of water. While walking back to the elevator, a staff member backed into her while trying to impress the college track team staying at the hotel, causing her to spill the water on her blouse. Not only did he not apologize he didn't even acknowledge what he did.Additional Pros & Cons: The rooms and bathrooms are spacious but poorly arranged. Location of the hotel is convenient to the freeways. The Bistro and Bar are nice but pricey.Given the attitude of the staff and their lack of help or concern for guests, I would recommend staying anywhere other than this hotel when in the area.

We'll definitely go back!
This hotel is excellent! I can't say enough good things about it. The rooms are very nice, comfortable bed, beautiful pool and outdoor lounging area, beautiful lobby, and very friendly staff! The price was very reasonable and location is perfect! Will definitely stay here again! Our daughter lives in LA and lives in a small place with a million roommates so we need a home base when we visit and this will be it! Loved it!

Aging rooms, nice lobby
The lobby looks great! Very new and modern. The front desk and front door area has great service, and a friendly buzz. However, beyond the lobby things go downhill. Rooms are tired, and seem so much older than the lobby! There's a general feeling of a lower quality Courtyard (in the rooms).Pool looked nice.Management was not attentive to late night noise/loud drunk talkers in the courtyard...oh well, that only bothered a few...er, well, how many rooms face the courtyard, 75 rooms?I would like them to look beyond the lobby for refurb or complete redo.For Pasadena, the Westin feels 10x fresher than this Courtyard and has a beautiful lobby WITH beautiful rooms too!

Nice place to stay
Courtyard Marriott in Old Town Pasadena is a nice place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Lobby is open and large with fireplace, sofas, chairs, 3 computers for general use, 2 more for airlines/boarding passes. Staff is super helpful and friendly - and that goes for everyone we encountered - desk staff, concierge, valets, housekeeping, even the guy serving coffee. Location is good, too. Only a few blocks from Colorado Blvd where you can find lots of shops & restaurants. We have family that lives in town so transportation was easy for us. But, I overheard staff talking to others about how to get around and it sounded like there were several reasonable options. We stayed 5 nights and were able to get a really good rate for 4 nights. For some crazy reason the 5th night cost $34 more than the other 4. I like Marriott hotels in general and would definitely go back to the Courtyard in Pasadena.
