It is never a good sign when you check into your hotel/condo and there is a woman already complaining to the front desk about something to do with her room. We were moved into a room that was so smoke ridden that we ended up leaving that night and to stay at a different hotel. When we returned the next day we were moved into a different unit. Apparently this unit was for sale and was under inspection that day. The inspection took about 2 hours. I was not about to leave my personal belongings out for strangers to go through so I sat and waited. Following the inspection a realtor came to show clients the condo, again I waited. Within the next few days we get another knock on the door waking us up to do repair work on the unit. The next day we got another knock on the door, waking us up again, from the same realtor showing the property. I had UPS deliver a package and checked the front office daily to see if anything came. I was told no every time. I checked with UPS and learned that a note was delivered to the front office with instructions for pick up. I was never given the note. The final straw came when we were told that our credit card was not working and we needed to use a different card. I distinctly remember asking, ¿¿¿we are not going to get double charged are we?¿¿¿ I was assured that we would not be charged more than once. We were charged FIVE times for one week of stay. When I went to the front desk to clear this matter up I heard another renter complaining that the water was shut off without notice. I experienced the same problem when I tried to brush my teeth earlier. We were not even given any notice that the water would be shut off for the entire day! When I said that I was over charged the very rude front desk clerk asked for proof. At this point I said I would rather just deal with the manager, at which point the front desk clerk rudely snickered and said, ¿¿¿He is just going to ask for the same thing.¿¿¿ He told me I could come back in an hour. I said I would prefer if the manager just called me so that I wouldn¿¿¿t be making yet another trip to the office without being assured that he was there. The manager never contacted us even after follow up phone calls. We literally had to track him down on the grounds. The following Monday someone came to wake us up again this time by entering our unit! They said we needed to pay even though we were owed over $700 dollars by Desert Tides. Because of our troubles they said they would upgrade our room when we asked for a bigger room. Once we moved all of our things to the new room we discovered the internet was not working. After calling the internet company we learned that it was the front desk¿¿¿s responsibility to set up the internet service. When we asked the front desk to help us they said it would take them until Monday, this left us without internet in out room for 4 days. I have traveled a lot, and I have never written a poor review of any place that I have stayed. The staff here reminds me of the SNL skit where the copy store employees do anything to get out of actually doing their jobs. I felt lied to and disrespected. I have never had such poor customer service. The facilities were dirty. There were ashes from cigarettes in dresser drawers. The pool rocks were covered with bird poop. The people staying here were pretty scary, sometimes stumbling around drunk. You can smell the marijuana from their rooms. If you are thinking about staying here, don¿¿¿t. Especially if you have children, it is not an environment that children should be in.

For the price that we paid we weren't expecting much. I have paid hundreds of dollars for hotels on the strip that weren't as big and comfortable as The Desert Tides. Can't go wrong when you have your own kitchen, living room, balcony, premium TV, nice bathroom, and less than a mile from the strip. It has all the amenities of most basic hotels such as a pool and jacuzzi, etc... It's nice, clean, quiet, and affordable. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

its just OK- has it good and bad like any other
I have been living here for a six months. The rate is cheap. Some of the staff are friendly - others are not. It takes time to get things fixed, my a/c stopped working and i had to be without it all weekend and they didnt even offer me any discount If you need something fixed you have to keep after them until it gets done. The police have been here alot since i moved in months ago. Generally most of the people who live here mind their own business. I havent had any personal bad experiences with any of my neighbors. I havent had any problems with roaches like most of these places in vegas. The security guards are mostly older men who patrol on bikes not really what I would say was security as they wouldnt be able to help me anymore than i could help myself. The rooms are good size and are generally keep up but could use some upgrading. Kitchen is fully furnished. No screens on the windows so you cant leave them open at night for the cool breeze. You can hear the noise outside while in the living room due to poor insulation.

I have lived there since January
I have been living their since January I have only seen the police their once, the place has new landscaping and the pool is great. I have yet to see any ghetto people there most people who live there work at the Coast, Palms, and Rio hotels. The security guards are super old ha but, other than that the staff in the front are really cool and help you out if you need any info on getting around town.
