Nice location, walking distance to most everything, quiet & comfortable
Looking for something fun to do with family from the Midwest, we decided on Santa Barbara, and a day trip up to Solvang. Originally looked at Castillo Inn because of the great reviews & rating on TA, but decided on Avania because of the pool & spa, which the Castillo does not have. Avania is just a short block further up. Pershing Park & baseball fields are directly across the street. Some reviews I read were negative about the staff, but we found them to be pleasant. Stayed on the 3rd (top) floor, which has a distant view of the water & Harbor. Room is good sized, clean, recently remodeled. The color choices make the rooms seem kind of dark, but there is plenty of light with the drapes open. Spent the day walking down to the Harbor, Stearn's Wharf, and all along Cabrillo Blvd. where on the beach side there were artists selling paintings, sculptures & jewelry. Many restaurants along the Blvd., plenty of options. Spa was a nice way to relax after all that walking. Bed was a little hard to me but my BH likes a firm mattress, so I guess it was ok. Continental breakfast is very good, many choices, and waffle maker was a hit with the kids, and us as well. We checked out the Castillo Inn as we walked by - looks nice, but since it's directly behind Best Western Beachside there is no ocean view or breeze. Overall, we were happy with our choice, and would stay there again.

Clean and Quiet, Close to State and the Beach
Great value. Clean room with free wifi and parking. 10 minute walk to State and close to wharf and harbor too. Friendly and efficient staff. Definitely a good and affordable option in SB. Didn't wake up in time for free breakfast :(

Not bad for an economy hotel
Just dropped by at the end of the day and booked in here. Friendly receptionist who tried three different rooms until he found one that was ready for us.The room was lovely, plenty of space with a nice clean comfy king bed. Downside was the relatively thin walls, which allowed us to listen to couple next door making sure the population was kept topped up. Luckily for us he only lasted about two minutes so alls well. Apart from that it was fine. Brekky was included in a really nice relaxed room, not a massive selection but more than enough to get you fired up for the day. Oh and fast free internet too.

Rude Receptionist
My friends and I went to SB for my friends birthday party. The first thing that you see is a very dull room. The sheets smelled bad. Poor costumer service. Indian looking lady was yelling at me and in front of the costumers. We quickly packed up our bags and went to the hotel right next door. SO much better!! Do not go to this Inn!!
